"So then I told him he was going to be shattered on his next mission and his eyes went so wide I thought his form was going to dissipate right there."

"That's awful!"

Yet despite her comment, Lemon Sapphire could not help but laugh at her friend's story. Sapphire remained undeterred and continued recounting her last fortune session.

"So I learned in real close just as he was starting to shake from the fear and whispered 'SIKE' ahahaha and he basically deflated. His fortune wasn't even that interesting, just some little promotion in his rank."

The two sapphires stayed there for a while, laughing at the shared stories. This was sort of a routine for them. Unlike the other sapphires in her friend group, Lemon Sapphire didn't really have a job or a hobby to keep her busy. Sapphire had her fortune telling business to entertain her, Deep Blue Sapphire had her ice sculpture commissions to attend to, and Indian Sapphire was always off assisting Aquamarine somewhere. Lemon Sapphire was almost envious of her friends. She would see that they each had their own little activities that kept them busy (or slightly busy in Sapphire's case) and wished she had something of her own as well. Yes there were the occasional balls and ceremonies that she was invited to in order to offer her clairvoyant services, but most of the time Lemon had nothing to do but wander about. For this reason, her friends were her whole world. To Lemon, checking on her friends was her pastime.

Every other day she would go and visit Sapphire and they would talk about the various fortunes she had given that day. It was something Lemon especially liked. She would catch herself grinning when she caught sight of that simple shoddy red tent. By the time she had drawn back the curtain Sapphire would be already ready with a casual joke to make her chuckle. The two would talk and then Lemon would take her leave. Sometimes, depending on her mood, Sapphire would decide to close down her business and then accompany Lemon and visit the other Sapphires. Sapphire was a carefree gem who would do whatever she felt like whenever she felt like, so it was not uncommon for her to close down her tent and wander around or mess around with the other gems instead.

On this day, Sapphire was interrupted by a customer seeking a fortune. Lemon quickly parted with her friend and made her way out of the tent and down the pathway. The next friend to visit on her list was Deep Blue Sapphire. Deep Blue Sapphire, unlike Sapphire, was almost always in the same location. Lemon smiled to herself as she made her way to that very familiar studio.

No matter how many times Lemon visited Blue, she was always blown away by the architecture of the area she was ing. Different structures littered the region from shops to galleries to chapels and theaters. Blue loved to surround herself with such artistic establishments and although Lemon was simply a casual observer and not a huge enthusiast for such things, she did enjoy viewing the art and buildings around her.

Finally she reached Blue's art studio. Like many of the other structures in the locality, it was pristine and white, yet minimalistic in design. She entered the studio and looked around to find that familiar white hair. Instead, as she rounded a corner, she almost collided into another.

"Ah! Oh I'm sorry! Your clarify, I am so sorry I startled you. My Sapphire did not inform me that you were visiting today, please forgive me."

Lemon steadied herself and looked up at the green Pearl in front of her. She laughed and shook her head.

"Oh no it's alright! No need to apologize Pearl. I always forget to announce my arrival haha. One of these days I WILL to call Blue on my communicator!"

Tahitian Pearl could not help but smile at Lemon. Every time she visited Blue she would say the same thing, she wondered if something had perhaps happened to Lemon's communicator. She suspected Lemon had misplaced it, since the sapphire was quite clumsy. Nevertheless, Tahitian Pearl did not comment on it. She bowed and escorted Lemon to where Blue was currently stationed. As expected, Deep Blue Sapphire was hunched over chipping away at a giant block of ice.

"My Sapphire, your friend Lemon Sapphire is here to see you."

Upon Tahitian Pearl's announcement, the pop of a gum bubble could be heard and Blue snapped her head around. Lemon waved and smiled sheepishly at her. Blue turned back around and set her tools down, making her way over to her friend.

"So...what are you working on?" Lemon started, "do you have another ball to attend to or is this one a private commission?"

"It's for a ball. One of the elite gems are throwing one and this Agate really wants to impress them. So she wants several large sculptures."

"Wow she must really want to impress her then haha. I hope this Agate isn't too demanding. They're usually overly kind but I tend to find that a bit overbearing after a while heheh," Lemon quipped. Blue's stoic personality made conversation a bit awkward but Lemon was used to it by now. She knew that Blue was almost always engrossed in her work. It made visitations a bit difficult but Lemon was always ive of her friends.

Truthfully, when Blue first said she was not interested in being a clairvoyant, Lemon was surprised and confused. A sapphire who didn't want to do her general duty? It was strange indeed but Blue wanted nothing to do with premonitions. She just wanted to sculpt her ice and showcase her work at fancy venues. Blue spent most of her time in the studio with Tahitian Pearl, working on projects commissioned by elite gems. Sometimes she would give herself a break and take Tahitian Pearl with her for a stroll and check out the nearby art galleries. Whenever she would take these strolls she would invite Lemon with her and the three of them would explore the surrounding establishments. Lemon always found it to be a fun and enriching experience. Blue would tease her and say she was easily impressed, which she was, but Lemon appreciated Blue inviting her to things that she indulged in. Lemon was always there to see Blue present her sculptures, she would have to contain her excitement of course, as elite gems normally prided themselves on an air of subtlety, but she made sure to always compliment Blue on her creations no matter what. Since Lemon was normally summoned to attend balls, ceremonies, and other celebrations, sometimes she and Blue would find themselves attending the same event. While Lemon would technically have to carry out her duties at the event, she would always find a way to hang out with Blue and her other sapphire friends attending.

"She's not too bad. She actually calls," Blue deadpanned. Lemon winced a bit at the remark but laughed it off. Blue watched her and sighed before continuing, "What happened to it this time? You know if you need another communicator Indian can just get you one."

"No! I-I have mine. I don't need one hah. I probably just misplaced it back at the manor. Besides, Indian has already helped me before, I think I should try doing things myself for once."

Blue watched as Lemon stammered a defense. She knew there was something more to Lemon's words. Lemon Sapphire was always there to her friends, always being present and keeping them company or voicing out words of encouragement. However, she was not a gem that would ask much of others. She loved her friends and asking them for help made her feel more of a burden than anything else. To be frank, she always felt as if she was bothering them. She felt that she was intruding on their personal time or interrupting their work. Lemon was plenty aware that she was a leisure gem, even if elite gems paraded her around at celebrations, she still had plenty of time to herself. While she didn't feel bad hanging out with the carefree Sapphire, when it came to her more serious friends like Blue and Indian, she had an underlying hunch that she was a nuisance. So she didn't ask for much, even when she would misplace things and knew they could help her, she kept quiet. Lemon wanted to hear their stories and offer a lighthearted break from their work.

Blue studied her for a long time before commenting, "you aren't bothering us. You're our friend. If you need something you should just ask. Tahitian Pearl's time will be up soon. You could rent her and have her ask on your behalf, if you really don't want to face Indian yourself. He's as much of a loser as us heh, advising an Aquamarine doesn't change that."

Lemon remained quiet as Blue continued. Both Blue and Indian had a way of being able to see right through her. After a long while, Lemon turned to leave. She told Blue she would consider talking to Indian about replacing her communicator, but only after she had searched the entire manor for it. She bid Blue farewell and Tahitian Pearl escorted her out.

Normally, Lemon would make her way over to Aquamarine's lair to talk to Indian Sapphire, but the thought of doing so overcame her with a wave of emotional exhaustion. She headed home instead to the Sapphire Manor.

Eventually, she would ask for help, she told herself, but today was not the day. She wanted her friends to be happy and not have to worry about her. As she threw herself on one of the beds at the complex, she chastised herself for being so transparent. She laughed to herself, for a cheery gem she wasn't really acting cheery. The truth was, she felt incredibly lonely. She wanted those around her to be happy and feared they would grow tired of her if she kept bugging them with her own frivolous troubles. She laid there in the bed for a while, closed her eye to calm her thoughts, and retired for the night.
