for this blog, i'll be sharing how i cram for my

exams and some tips on cramming. though i

definitely do not recommend cramming, i

procrastinate a lot so i usually have no choice

but to do so. hope it helps! :relieved:

𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴

i usually arrive at my house from school

around 5pm so i start studying at by 6pm

after finishing dinner and taking a bath. so

why do these?

1) studying after eating helps you focus

better since you won't be feeling hungry

and won't have the urge to look for

something to munch on.

2) taking a bath would make you feel

refreshed and by the time you finish

studying you can sleep right away.

𝗼𝗻𝗲 ፧ know the topics

i check how many subjects i will be cramming

for and how many topics there are for each.

afterwards, i ask myself: which topics do i

understand well and which topics do i have a

difficult time with. i will then allot more time to

the topics which i have difficultly in and make a

mental note for how long i should study for each.

tip: if your teacher specified topics to review

focus mainly on these or makes sure you are

familiar with them.

𝘁𝘄𝗼 ፧ read and highlight

i start by reading my notes from class mostly

written in bullet form making it easier for me

to find the important points. most often things

discussed in class will take up most of the test

(though it depends on your teacher). for

additional information, i read or at least skim

thru my book. this is in case the teacher adds

questions not discussed in class and to have

better answers for essay questions.

when reading my book, i do my best to avoid

highlighting whole sentences or paragraphs.

what i highlight are: key persons & their role,

& their definitions, dates and important

events, main ideas & evidence.

𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 ፧ testing my understanding

to test my understanding, i refer to my book,

quizzes and worksheets. i review my correct

answers and redo my mistakes and search for

exercises in the book to answer. to prepare

for essay questions, i ask myself questions

starting with why and how regarding the topic.

then i try to explain what i have read in my

own words and write it down. i sometimes

use quizlet or khan academy as well, if there are

quizzes/exercises about the topics i'm studying.

𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 ፧ sleep

i make sure to sleep before 11pm as much

as possible to get at least 6 hours sleep as

i have to wake up before 5am. it wouldn't

help if you've studied way to much and end up

becoming sleep deprived on the day of exams.

𝗼𝗻𝗲 ፧ don't spend too much time on a topic

be aware of the time. just because you have

a hard time with a topic doesn't mean you're

just going to focus on that and neglect the

other topics. i usually do the easy topics first

since i finish them faster and dedicate the

rest of the time to the difficult topics.

𝘁𝘄𝗼 ፧ refrain from studying on your bed

this gives you the urge to sleep and makes

you lose focus. though if you feel that

studying on the bed makes you more

productive, by all means do so. just don't

go lying around and rolling in your bed.

𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 ፧ get some sleep

try to get at least 3-6 hours of sleep before

an exam. it wouldn't do you good if you stay

up until 3am studying. by the time of your

exams, you'll be feeling tired and drowsy. you

can try sleeping earlier and waking up earlier.

when cramming i usually sleep around 10pm

and wake up before 4 to review.

𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 ፧ try to review with a friend

on the day of the exams, i usually get to school

earlier than usual to be able to review with my

group of friends. we test our understanding

by asking questions to one another and

approaching the teacher for clarifications- too

shy to ask alone. ^^
