The ‘My Career’ Challenge

Hey, everyone!
I decided to do this #mycareer challenge but since I’m still in high school, I’ll be talking about the career I want to pursue in the future :)

• What do I want to do and/or be when I graduate? •
I’m planning to study medicine after I graduate in high school, but preferably do another undergraduate course that could lead me into postgraduate medicine. I’d like to become a doctor, possibly specialising in pathology or radiology!
• How am I working towards my career? •
I’ve been attempting to study efficiently and effectively throughout my schooling life, particularly in senior years. As the course is quite academically challenging, I try to maintain a consistent schedule for study, also putting some time into researching universities and the courses they offer.

• Do I have any advice for people going into this career? •
Since I’m not actually in the career and have limited knowledge and experience, there’s only a few tips I can think of for someone wanting to do medicine. I think the person would have to be patient and calm, as well as intelligent and kind - it’s a demanding career so it’s best to have a ion and actually enjoy helping others. I think it’s also important to consider your own health as well, and not let stress from work affect your lifestyle, so make sure to treat yourself and understand your body!
• What is the career I am pursuing? •
- General practitioner, then become a specialist (eg. Pathologist)
When completing the medicine course (undergraduate or postgraduate), you’ll be qualified as a general practitioner and will work in hospitals or health practices. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating people with general symptoms, being able to prescribe patients with medications as well in order to alleviate symptoms or cure an illness. A pathologist, which is the area I’m thinking of specialising in, is a person who has studied extra years and is qualified to work in a laboratory to analyse bodily fluids for signs of disease.

So that’s the career I hope to pursue! I hope you enjoyed reading!
