Illness is a serious matter. It is extremely important that you prioritize your health above all else. If you are at a point where you are incapable of studying, you cannot overexert yourself. These tips are meant for what I call functioning sick days, when you feel ill, but are still able to preform basic tasks. Please take care of yourselves when you are sick. Your health is always more important than school work
So, you caught a cold. Yay, a whole day off from school! If you're anything like me though, you have a ton of homework and can't stand not being busy. This is a situation I often end up in due to chronic migraines and a really weak immune system.
For me, the best thing to do in this situation is to sit down and review. Review doesn't take nearly as much energy as completing and working through an assignment does. Review can be super simple- things like YouTube videos, Quizlet sets, and just looking over your notes can be super effective, and don't even require leaving your bed.
Here's a run down on how I review when I'm sick, and the healthy things you can do to Battle illness while doing so.

NOTES, NOTES, NOTES
by far, the best thing for me to do when I'm sick is to catch up on notes. Sadly, staying home so often usually means I miss many crucial notes. Luckily, I've found a website that does textbook outlines and has very thorough notes (for free) that I use for many sick days, I'll leave the link if you are interested in that
link here-> AP study notes
For me, notes are the best thing to do on a sickday. It doesn't requiruch thinking because it's mostly copying, and it's a great way to review information that you otherwise wouldn't have.
I also like using the free time to make my notes look more appealing. Nothing is nicer than a beautiful notebook. I like rewriting all my notes so that they are easier to read and look more eye pleasing. Especially for quick, lecture based classes, where my notes often end up being chicken scratch.
Reading
If you're anything like me, often reading is not something you get around to. Busy schedules prevent a lot of that leisure reading and sometimes even academic reading. When you're sick, and stuck at home, it's the perfect time to catch up on all the reading you haven't done.
I'm taking AP English language this year and while I don't have to read a ton of books, I do need to analyze them really closely. Being sick allows me to get my reading done, and to complete analysis in one sitting.
However, reading isn't all academic. Reading for leisure is just as great, if not better. Before highschool, I used to read a book a week, but again, busy schedules have taken that love away. Sickness has allowed me to complete many books, like phantom of the opera, dodger, mythology, and many other title I otherwise wouldn't have been able to.
YouTube
YouTube is one of those things that can be used productively or unproductively. I'm no more innocent than anyone else in this, often being sick leads to spending all day watching entertaining, non educational videos. However, there are some resources on YouTube that are helpful in learning.
Some of my favorite things to watch are informational videos, not about anything specific, but just short educational videos that counter the useless mush I typically watch. Some awesome I love for this are things like biographics(biographies about historical figures), the infographics show(animated information about any and everything), and PBS eons(paleontology).
There are also some cool, longer videos you can get into, crash course is awesome, as well as channels like absolute history(history documentaries) and sideways(music theory videos explaining the use of music in pop culture).

Food
Food when sick is hard. You need to eat something that gives you enough nutrients but also isn't that hard on your stomach. Personally, I am a vegetarian, so things like chicken soup and animal broth are not an option. Instead, I prefer eating lots of fruits and vegetables. Here's some of the best thing to eat when sick
Oranges/other citrus
Oranges are great because they are full of vitamins such as vitamin C, this helps to boost your immune system and fight common cold and other ailments.
Berries
Berries are really great because they contain tons of antioxidants, which help prevent and fight illness. Berries are also super tasty, and can be frozen without compromising any of their nutritional benefits.
Vegetables
Vegetables in general are probably the best defense against Illness. They contain many vitamins that fight illness. My favorite way to keep myself healthy is to make vegetable soups/broths.
Water
Water is the most important thing to have when sick. Water is easy to incorporate while studying. I have a system where I drink a glass of water every hour. Water helps to flush out your system and also helps white blood cells to fight disease. Staying hydrated is super important and needs to be a top priority while sick.
Sleep
Sleep is really important for your health. Sleep allows your body to fight disease and refresh your body. This is the number one thing to do when you get sick... Even more important than studying and class work. Again, you need to put your health first in the situation and if this means sleeping all day, rather than doing work, then that's what you need to do.
I hope this was helpful, especially considering the spread of COVID-19. it's a bit different than what I usually post about, bit I thought it would be important to talk about.
as always, I will see you all next time!

Sorry for asking, is it just a cold?
No problem, it's not a cold or anything. I just suffer from chronic and frequent migraines. The medicine I'm require to take for this can cause nausea, which is why I'm sick almost 1week every month.
