Whitebeard was One of the four Yonko, of the New World. He was widely recognized as the Strongest Man in the World by the World Government and the entire One Piece World Itself, up to the events of his death at marineford. He was good friends with the late Pirate King Gol D. Roger, which means he is one of the few people in the series who knows the One Piece is real and exists.
Whitebeard has a large crew consisting of indivdual crew on his ship and also Allies he has gain from being a Yonko of the new world. He uses this postition in protecting Islands from other evil pirates by claiming teritory over them as they are now under his protection. he treats his enormous crew and allies as if they were his family, which we know is the purpose of Whitebeard setting sail as a pirate and whats hes always wanted over Treasure Fame and Gold.
His crew, the Whitebeard Pirates, is one of the most powerful pirate crews in all of One Piece containing people like Marco the Phoenix, Portgas D. Ace, Diamond Jozu, and Flower Sword Vista. Who each of them were division commanders who had their own underlings under them in the power ranking of the crew the divisions went from 1 to 16. They were also the main crew to attack Marineford during the Marineford arc to try and rescue Ace from the Marines and to prevent his excution.
Whitebeard's devil fruit, the Gura Gura no Mi, is one of the most powerful devil fruit in the series being of a Paramecia type. It is recognized as the devil fruit that provides the wielder an Abilty and power so great that it can destroy the world as stated by Sengoku when describing Whitebeard. With this Devil Fruit, Whitebeard can crack the air as if it was glass and the result of this destroys anything in its path through the use of earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as serious damage to the environment and people if they're caught up in it.
Whitebeard lives up to the reputation he has been given and is truely one of the most legendary and greatest pirates to live. His death alone signifies this and the end of the Great Pirate Era, and will forever be known as a legend in years to come and his legacy, will continue onwards to the next generation of pirates as he sacrifised himself for this, and to protect his crew and allies who had survived the war at marineford.

I was thinking of making my first blog on Whitebeard but I couldn't have done this much . Though there are still more greatness about him but that will be spoilers for now
