Happy 4 years of the song Me! Swifties! On the morning of April 25, 2019, Taylor showed up at the mysterious butterfly mural at the Nashville to take pictures with Swifties and said that she has an annoucement at that night’s NFL draft pick. It turns out that she was going to release her long anticipated new music video at the midnight EST of the 26th — “Me!”.

Since months earlier (back in February), Taylor had been posting mysterious photos hinting the arrival of a new era, starting with photos of 7 palm trees, Taylor sitting on a staircase, and the well-know 5 holes on the fence post. Initially, Swifities suggested that those photos are count downs to a particular day. However, nothing actually happened on the day those countdown theorists had predicted for an annoucement of some sorts. Other Swifties took this opportunity to laugh at the theory.🤡 However, instead of just laughing at the idea, Taylor decided to roll with it, and posted an countdown on her official website 13 days before the release (4.13). She also changed the theme of her website and her profile picture. There were glitters on the background of the countdown page. Everyone knew a new era was about to begin. (By the way, 4.13 was kind of an important date to me personally. I was about to make a post on that day, but I got caught up with life and forgot about it. I guess I will make a short make up post).

Althought no longer as popular now, Me! marks the ending of the dark era of reputation and isolation of Taylor from the rest of the world and the begining of an pastel, glitter, and “Daylight” themed era. This was unprecedented as this is Taylor’s first summer album — “Lover” — that is not centered around sadness and so-called “heartbreak songs.” In fact, Taylor in one interview during the Lover era addressed the question what would she do when she is finally happy.

Anyway, happy Me! Day, and Long Live Swifties!🫶
