I was expecting a little more umph to it honestly. Honestly the reviews and interviews pretty much gave us all the lyrics that weren't filler. It'll grow on me, as all Taylor songs do. But I was expecting some thing a little... More. I am glad she left it off Lover though. The way it is doesn't really fit the Lover vibe (even with Miss Americana and The Man and You Need To Calm Down).
Anyways. It's not about charting and radio play so I'm not too worried

Only The Young is a song I've instantly connected with. When my candidate for Senator lost in the midterm elections, I really just told myself that the younger generation is so involved in politics that in 2 years we'll have more against our current Senator (who has actually been our senator for quite a while). But I fully feel the idea that we shouldn't give up hope, we can run from this by changing it. Our Senator doesn't see gun violence as a big deal. He doesn't think abortion is okay. The fear of my workplace (working in a "school") being exposed to the gun violence we often see on TV is so real and I don't think anyone really understands it except teachers. In high school; my english teacher broke down in tears about all the shootings, and I thought it was a bit silly and embarrassing but now working with children, imagining them being exposed to weapons, being shot/injured/killed, imagining these kids I spend so much time watching grow up (some of the kids were there when I started 2 and a half years ago, I've literally seen them grow up) getting hurt is terrifying and I fully understand how that teacher felt now. And this song just gets me... every time.
