For now me and my group have only played Dungeon and Dragons but i am interested in playing with a system that is less "high fantasy" like call of chtuluh

Cyberpunk and emperor rising suns r two you should check out if you want to step away from high fantasy.
If you get used to those gameplay systems, you can alter them.
I’ve used cyberpunk system(altered slightly) and tried a modern zombie/EMP apocalypse plot with it. Lots of fun.
Champions or mutants and masterminds are fun
