Power + Wanderlust + Vendetta = a reason to explore while seeking a goal.
I have a few one finding knowledge and helping as meny people as they can
Personal codes, working for a higher cause (be it deities or organisations), vendettas, wanderlust, power/ knowledge, riches/greed, pick a few.
Does your character have any scars or branding marks if so she/he may want to get revenge on those who caused it

Well, I think an intense fear of failure is quite interesting for a character, personally.
