Hey everybody! I am Siria, and I live in India. Most of you may not know but within India, there are many different cultures and traditions, basically different in each state. I am from a North Indian state, called Punjab. Today, I'm going to talk about traditional wear for women of Punjab. In older times, salwaar suits uses to be most appropriate and every girl wore it. As the time has progressed, salwaar suits have gone through several modifications and changes. Now there are variety of other forms of it, like pajaami suit, sharaara suit, plazzo suit, anaarkali suit, etc. I wear all kinds to be honest. Also, the more flashy, we can say, equivalent to cocktail dresses of western culture, we have Lehanga. It is basically like a gown but the upper and lower portion are separated and a dupatta, or a long scarf is worn around the neck along with it. Traditional foot wear for Punjabi women is Punjabi jutti, the type of the footwear the shelves of the shop in the given image show. They work with all above mentioned dresses and it completes the look along with heavy jewelry such as haar (heavy necklace), jhumkaas, maang teekas, etc.
