Ok so I enjoy writing fanfictions and I have a couple of stories with some ideas I would like to explore but for the life of me I can't find any real info on what's going on in High Rock and Valenwood starting 2 years before and during the events of Skyrim.
I'm not sure if there is any real official info on what's going on in those 2 regions, but I thought it would be better to make sure before I decided to create my own answers for my stories since I would like to stick as close to canon as I can in these stories.

I think there would probably be some quarrels in the shadows in Valenwood, I believe the Thalmor overthrew the Imperial ing leaders in Valenwood and installed their own people, so that Valenwood would the Dominion,, so there might be some uprisings against the Thalmor,, potentially.
I believe during the great war, Highrock was hesitant to send their forces to help hammerfell, because they were worried about the dominion landing on Highrock's shore, so they might be in a bit of a better position military wise compared to the other Imperial Provinces,, I think I read something about Breton Lords thinking about declaring independence, because with Hammerfell independent to their south, and Skyrim in the midst of its own Rebellion, they wouldnt have a direct connection to Cyrodiil.

I'm not certain about High Rock, but I know that the Aldmeri Dominion has been working on taking over Valenwood. The bosmer and the Green has made things difficult for them, however, and they struggle with invading the deeper portions of the province
