Ah board games, a great way to the time. But what if it causes a fight?

Well that was the case for two mercs who played Monopoly.

Though of course this game is quite hard. You basically go around a board, buying places with fake money, and when someone land on your place, you charge them.

For this writing challenge (and my first challenge), I will be using all my OC’s

Nevaeh.

Please enjoy!

Oh the weather outside the RED base was terrible! Thunder cracked and lightning flashed. Usually that wouldn’t be a problem, but of course, the power was out.

Both teams had to share a base so they could share food and warmth.

They thought it’d be hectic, but surprisingly they all got along really well.

They all seemed to have a lot in common. Well of course, they were the same people.

Everyone was talking amongst themselves when Ellie, the BLU Sniper decided to stand up. She had an idea that would one, get her mind off her fear of storms, and two, the time.

“H-hey everyone!” She stuttered. Everyone glanced at the small girl in front of them.

“W-what I-if we play a f-few b-board games?”

Ellie smiled brighter than the sun when she spoke. They all looked at each other, murmurs filled the room.

“Not bad idea.” A Heavy itted as he sat in his chair. Ellie squeaked in excitement and ran upstairs. She came back soon after, her arms full of board games, “S-so. Who’s in?” Ellie placed them onto a table.

“I’ll .” A familiar British voice spoke. Nevaeh Waters, the RED Medic stood up and walked over to Ellie.

Two men walked over to the two, a RED soldier and a BLU Spy.

”We’ll .” The soldier seemed enthusiastic, while the Spy groaned.

“G-great!” Elisa chirped. She looked around to see everyone else continuing their conversations, “W-well I-I guess it’s just us f-four!”

Ellie picked the game Monopoly and set it down on the ground, sitting in front of it. The others ed.

“Ah.” Nevaeh smiled, “Haven’t played this game in years.” She softly laughed and opened the box. The pieces were all there in wrappers and everything looked brand new.

“You haven’t played this yet?” Asked John.

“N-Nah.” Ellie sadly shook her head, “N-no one wa-wants to p-play with m-me.”

A look of sadness briefly crossed Nevaeh’s face before she opened the game board and placed it on the ground.

Ellie squealed like a little girl, “I wanna be the d-dog!” She grabbed it, smiling.

John chuckled and grabbed the car, and Trent took the top hat.

Nevaeh just grabbed the thimble. She also grabbed the money, “I’ll be the bank... guy.” She laughed and handed everyone the starting amount.

Two 500’s, four 100’s, one 50, one 20, two 10’s, one 5, and five 1’s.

“Are you sure this is how much everyone starts off with?” Trent asks as he picks up the fake, coloured money.

”Of course!” Nevaeh glanced at him, “It’s always been like that.”

Trent shook his head, “I disagree. This is too much.” He tried to hand back the money but Nevaeh shoved it back, “It says right here in the rules, you dork, that all players start off with 1,500 dollars.” She dramatically threw the rule book at him.

Trent sighed when he realized Nevaeh was right. She innocently smiled as everyone put down their game pieces on the square that said “GO”.

”Alright, Ellie, you wanna go first?” Nevaeh asked as she placed a cigarette in her mouth.

“S-Sure!” Ellie happily squeaked as she rolled the red dice.

”Six.” She smiled and glided her game pieces across the board.

John goes next, "Two." He does the same, moving the game piece. Then Trent goes, rolling his eyes as he lazily places his top hat.

That meant Nevaeh went last. She snatched the dice out of the Italian man's hand and rolled it. She landed on a spot where you have to pick up a card.

Nevaeh picked one up and read it aloud, "Go straight to jail??" She furrowed her brows as Trent started laughing at her. She cussed at him in Gaelic and put her game piece in jail.

Oh but it only got worse from there.

Nevaeh was still in jail after 15 minutes and Trent wouldn't stop making fun of her. The last 'insult' made her snap.

"You're just as bad at this than you are at your career."

It was obvious that he was joking, well John and Elisa laughed. Though, the Brit took it seriously, being jealous and all. Nevaeh was really competitive, and had a short temper when she played games.

There was an awkward silence before out of nowhere, she tackled him, wrapping her hands around his neck, "I outta kill you, Spy!" Her grip tightened, she watched as he gasped for air.

Ellie screeched which got everyone's attention. Nevaeh was soon ripped off of Trent, who was finally able to breath.

She tried to pull away but was lifted into the air by Heavy.

"Maybe she really should go to jail." Trent smirked as he stood up. Nevaeh growled in response, still trying to get herself free.

"What 'da hell even happened?" A Scout interrupted. "I'm a drunk competitive game player." Nevaeh replied, as she was placed onto the ground.

The board game was quickly put away afterwards, and the mercs went back to casually chatting. They all made a point t to keep Nevaeh away from Trent.
