Dear Katniss

Welcome to my blog! For those reading and not sure what this is- this is for the Writer's Club! The prompt was for us to write a letter to someone as who we chose to write as. One of the characters I picked was Prim, and below is her letter to Katniss.

I don’t really know how to begin this letter. I wanted to write you something because I think you need to know just how much I love and ire you. I think I don’t say it enough. I know I can't send this to you. I'm sure if I tried, the capitol would get rid of it. So, I guess this letter is for me. But maybe you'll get to read it some day.

I'm trying my best to stay calm ever since you left. I don’t think I fully understood until you actually left. You’ve been fighting for me, for our family, for so long. It’s hard for me to imagine all that you’ve gone through, all the pain you’ve endured. I’m sorry for that. You never asked for any of it, and yet you carried it all on your shoulders because you love us. Because you love me.

You were always there to look after me. I never realized how much that meant until I was left here, alone, wondering if I would ever see you again. I know you’d do anything for me, and I know you always will, but sometimes, I wish I could carry some of the weight for you. I don’t want you to feel like you have to protect me forever.

Mom doesn't look too well, but Gale has been checking in on us after he's done with work in the mines. We all miss you. But I know you can do this Katniss. If you miss me, just your pin. I don't know how to thank you for volunteering in my place. You saved my life. We all believe in you. You're smart and brave.

In the meantime, I'm selling goat cheese like you said. Sometimes I trade it too. It's been quiet around here. But I guess it's like this every year around this time. Don't worry though. I'll make sure to be there for mom. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know I want to stand beside you, whatever happens. I’ll always be here for you, no matter what. Don’t forget that I love you and I'm glad to be your little sister.
