Over the next couple of days only two tributes died. The boy from 2 and the girl from 6. Annika was getting stronger each day and was eventually able to leave the cave. They were walking through the woods when the girl from 7 jumped out in front of them.
"I don't want to hurt you, I want to be your ally. My name is Luna and I am from District 7."
Annika and Caleb were a little wary considering what had happened with Sariah, but they decided to give her a chance.
Luna had a sleeping bag which proved very useful that night. Luna seemed very sweet and kind. The next morning the three of them left to search for food and water. They heard a cannon go off.
"Think about all the children who have died, all the grieving families, and for what? What did we ever do except exist? They put innocent children into a giant cage and turn them into monsters, they kill each other in the worst ways. The person who does live doesn't really get a life either, they will always be haunted by the memories here and then be forced to mentor other children who will inevitably die. This is absolute torture!" Annika exclaimed.
Luna looked at her and nodded her head in agreement. Caleb had a worried look on his face. He knew that Annika was right, but he was afraid that the gamemakers would try to kill her because of it.
Another cannon went off and it brought Annika to tears. That night the two kids that had died were the boy from 8 and the girl from 2.
They went to sleep and decided to find a place near water to camp next.
Luna and Caleb woke up to Annika's scream. The boy from 1 had stabbed her in the chest. Caleb rushed over to him and stabbed him over and over again. He then sat beside Annika crying over her dead body. She was gone. He looked at her beautiful face which was quickly losing color. He started sobbing and placed her head in his lap. Luna came over and cried over her too.
"Annika! Annika!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. He hugged her one last time and gently kissed her forehead. "I love you Annika, I love you," he whispered to her. He looked at her for the very last time before walking away.
