Hello, THGA!! I hope everyone is doing well!!

I am done with my second to last semester

of nursing school, and now that I’m finally on

summer break, I want to host a fun little

challenge for you guys!

───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION

Ever since the Sunrise on the Reaping movie

was announced, I’ve been thinking about

what kind of songs we will be getting for the

official soundtrack. Olivia Rodrigo absolutely

CRUSHED IT with her song, “Can’t Catch Me

Now,” and I’ve always loved, “Safe and Sound,”

by Taylor Swift as well!! Here’s a few other

Hunger Games soundtrack songs that I love:

Elastic Heart — Sia

Atlas — Coldplay

Eyes Open — Taylor Swift

Silhouettes — Of Monsters and Men

Kingdom Come — The Civil Wars

Just A Game — Birdy

Gale Song — The Lumineers

Abraham’s Daughter — Arcade Fire

And there’s obviously so many more, but you

guys don’t want to see me list everything.

Of course, I also love the original Hunger

Games songs—The Hanging Tree, Pure As

The Driven Snow, Nothing You Can Take From

Me, Lucy Gray (part 1), and several others.

Music plays a pretty important role in these

books and films! And because of that, I want

you guys to create a playlist for this challenge!

For this challenge, please create a playlist

of at least FIVE songs that you feel fit with

the themes and characters of The Hunger

Games! Your playlist can be for one of the

movies and/or books, OR it can be for a

specific character—the character specific

option may be a tad easier! You may also

do a playlist for a ship (ex: Katniss x Peeta,

Finnick x Annie, Haymitch x Lenore Dove,

Coriolanus x Lucy Gray, Gale x Madge, etc.)

For each song you list, please include a brief

explanation of why you chose that song! This

is important!! Without an explanation of why

you picked the songs you did, I won’t know

if your song choices actually fit your chosen

character, book, or movie.

If you choose to make a character specific

playlist, PLEASE : You aren’t

listing songs you think the character would

like listening to! You are listing songs you

think fit or describe the character’s

personality, story, thoughts, and/or struggles!

CHALLENGE RULES

01. Create a playlist cover

It can be as simple as a picture straight

from Pinterest of the mockingjay pin or

the character you picked! But feel free to

get as creative as you want!

02. List at least FIVE songs (no more than 10)

and make sure to include the song title AND

the name of the singer

03. Explain why you picked each song

You can write out specific lyrics and/or

summarize the meaning of the song and

why that fits the book/movie/character!

04. Include the tag: #kaysplaylistchallenge

in your blog post for this challenge

That’s it! It’s that simple!

EXAMPLES

Bad Example:

THG Playlist Challenge-[IMG=W7J]
[c]Hello, THGA!! I hope everyone is doing well!!
[c]I am done with my second to last semeste

Song 1: Bejeweled — Taylor Swift

I think Effie would really love this song

because it’s so fun!

Song 2: As It Was — Harry Styles

Song 3: Sailor Song — Gigi Perez

Song 4: Slim Pickins

Rationale: Why is this a bad example? The

cover is great, but the first song doesn’t

describe Effie as a character. In this example,

I said Effie would like the song, not that it

fits her character. For songs 2 and 3, I only

put the song and artist with no explanation.

For song 4, I only listed the song title.

Good Example:

THG Playlist Challenge-[IMG=W7J]
[c]Hello, THGA!! I hope everyone is doing well!!
[c]I am done with my second to last semeste

Song 1: right where you left me — Taylor Swift

This song is about not being able to move on,

which I think fits Peeta well after the first

book. Peeta was upset that Katniss was just

acting for the cameras. He held a grudge for

a bit, unable to move on from his hurt feelings.

But he also couldn’t move on from his feelings

of love and iration for Katniss.

Song 2: Unconditionally — Katy Perry

”Come just as you are to me

Dont need apologies

Know that you are worthy

I’ll take your bad days with your good

Walk through the storm, I would

I do it all because I love you”

These lyrics perfectly describe how Peeta

loves Katniss. He loves her completely; flaws

and all! And he’d do anything to keep her

safe. He loves and s her unconditionally.

Rationale: This is a great example because

it includes a great playlist cover, and all the

songs are listed with the title, artist, and there

is a ln explanation with each song!
