Jay had a great childhood. He was cared for and loved by both his parents and his older sister. Tragedy struck when Jay was 13 years old and was at a swim meet. He dived in the water but dived a little hard and hit his head at the bottom of the pool. Soon after his body was pulled from the water.

For twenty minutes they tried to bring Jay back to life. All seemed to be lost when Jay’s body started to smoke. Everywhere smoke rose filling the nostrils of everyone in proximity to Jay's body. A couple more minutes go by and Jay’s body bursts into flames. Jay’s mother started crying confused as to what was happening.

The flames on his body died down and all that was left was a replica of Jay's 12 year old body made out of ash. After what seemed like an eternity to his mother, a hand stretched out from the  ash, the ashen replica crumbling as Jay seemed to break through. The coach of the swim team ran over grabbing Jay’s hand pulling him from the ash. Jay looked at everyone confused as to what happened to him. He later found out that he had ‘died’ and was resurrected.

From that day forward Jay learned that he was a phoenix. A few years later he met Andi Sinclair and the two became best friends and were inseparable. They treated each other like siblings. But unbeknownst to the other, they both had a crush on each other. Each of them not itting it. itting their crush would change their dynamic if they the other person were to fund out.
