My Frozen JR. Role!/ Introduction

Hey! I‘m realizing that this is my first post on this Amino, so I’ll briefly introduce myself then I’ll get into what I’m interested in posting about.

My name is Vince, and I’m fourteen years old. I got into theatre three years ago, but I ed my first drama troupe this year. I recently finished performing Seussical: the Musical JR. with said drama troupe, and we auditioned for Frozen JR. two weeks after our final Seussical show day. My current favorite show is Beetlejuice: the Musical, which I’m flying to NYC to see in January, but I also like Wicked (which I just saw tonight), Newsies (which I’ll be auditioning for in six months), Hamilton: the Musical, the Book of Mormon, Heathers: the Musical, Be More Chill, Dear Evan Hansen, and School of Rock.

My previous roles are:

• Fossa/sea captain: Madagascar JR.

• John Laurens: Hamilton (Revued)

• (Genderbent) Sour Kangaroo: Seussical JR.

I don’t have too many roles under my belt currently, but I hope to fix that soon.

Now, for what I wanted to post about: Frozen JR. casting! As previously mentioned, I auditioned for Frozen recently. At first, I wasn’t too excited about the fact that my drama troupe chose Frozen, out of all shows. I viewed the plot as a story for little girls and not much else. As the auditions neared, however, I became more excited about the prospect of being in it.

I auditioned for Prince Hans of the Southern Isles. For some strange reason, this is the second time in a row that I’ve desired to play the antagonist for my troupe. We’re doing the Newsies next, and because I’m one of the oldest in my troupe, I may be considered for Pulitzer (the antagonist), too. That’d be interesting.

Anyway, the audition went very smoothly. It was much smoother than my most recent audition for school, in which I forgot the lyrics to my song, incorrectly demonstrated my vocal range, and completely flopped the acting portion due to the fact that I wasn’t given time to read the scene beforehand (obviously, I didn’t get cast in that show). No, the auditions for this went brilliantly. I did well on the dancing, on the acting, and on the singing. I was really confident.

Well guys, I got called back for Hans.

AND I GOT HIM!

Not only was I cast as Hans, but I was also cast as King Agnarr. This is the most lines I’ve ever had, which means my director has faith in me. I can’t let her down! I don’t need to know my lines until tech week, but since I have so many of them (16 lines for King Agnarr. I haven’t even counted Hans’s, but he definitely has over 16), I’ve started reviewing them already. I made flashcards and yeah. Going great so far.

So that’s my casting! We were given the cast list this Monday and met up on Tuesday, where we did a sing-through of the musical and choreographed part of the first song.

I’m so excited for this.
