That's basically all there is to his identity, unless you count his side hustle as a bootlegger or his reputation as a troublemaker.

Before the Games, Haymitch was a nobody. He sold hooch to help his mother make ends meet. Now, he's rich enough to not need anything. He can spend time throwing knives with his friends before they all grow up and go off to work.

He doesn't, though.

After his victory, Haymitch became distant. While his girlfriend, Lenore Dove, went to the Capitol for university, he stayed in District Twelve. He's been isolating himself ever since his victory, only coming out to mentor new contestants in every new season of the Hunger Games.

Those who have gotten him to leave the house know that he's gotten a little too fond of drink ever since he came back home. He won't talk about it with anyone, though. It's just for the pain, he says. Like any other medicine would do.

He has no hobbies.
