A Game Of Charades: Prologue.

A/N POV

“Woohoo!!! The vacation is finally here!”

Soobin exclaims as he excitedly sprints through the school corridors. His eyes were glistening with happiness and he could barely stop his legs from running like a marathon runner.

“Soobin hyung! Wait for us!”

The youngest shrieks, afraid that Soobin might be too fast to catch up with. He was, after all, tying his shoelaces. Shoelaces were never his thing. He'd tie them and they'd loosen as if they untied themselves magically. It was annoying to be tying your shoes at least 20 times every day.

Seeing Kai struggle for the 7th time during the day, the oldest lets out a chuckle. He stands beside Kai and waits for him. Once done, the maknae claps a few times in an up and down motion to get rid of the dust that might have gotten on his hands while tying his shoelaces.

“Kai-ah, you should get some shoes without laces! It's annoying to be standing like this every day!”

Beomgyu snorts, looking at the kids' park that remained locked always. It was a busy playground for elementary students once. It bustled with students during lunch breaks and recesses. But suddenly... It was locked up! A huge rusty gate now guards this playground. Most of the rides now look like they're straight out of a horror film. The only creepy thing in this whole school is this playground. Whenever Beomgyu looks at it, he keeps wanting to stare. For some reason, it attracts him. He wants to go there, roam around and play as well even though he's not at the age of playing in such a playground anymore. It feels like this playground wants to tell him something. Something that's very forbidden.

“Beomgyu?”

Yeonjun calls out to the dazed boy, realizing that he's far from reality. Beomgyu, however, remains unfazed and keeps looking at the park as Yeonjun's words don't even reach his ears. Everything suddenly starts getting filled with a bright shade of red when suddenly...

Smack!

“Yah! Where are you lost again? I've been calling your name for so long!”

Yeonjun suddenly shouts in a tone full of annoyance after smacking the younger lightly on his head, giving the dazed boy a mini heart attack as he snaps back into reality, flinching and reaching out to place his hand on his chest. Everything comes back to place. The thoughts he had, the red surroundings he saw, all fade away without any trace, leaving him standing with numerous questions pacing back and forth in his head.

“What happened?”

“What was I seeing?”

“Why does it feel like a portion of my memories has been ripped off?”

Yeonjun silently starts to scan the boy up and down, trying to find out his cause of fear and daze. Beomgyu wasn't the type of boy who'd flinch from a smack given by Yeonjun. A head smack was the most normal between the two. Whenever they couldn't get each other's attention, a head smack was meant to be placed. Beomgyu isn't also the type of boy to be so distracted from the world that he wouldn't even hear Yeonjun calling him numerous times.

“Guys, can we get going? Taehyun is waiting for us!”

Kai urges them to move, grabbing Beomgyu's hand. The boys chuckle and start following Kai, who was now ahead of Soobin as well.
