Heya CM, I'll tell you a Japanese ghost story.

A long time ago, there was a samurai named Ogiwara. He had a lover named Otsuyu. They were in love and planned to marry. However, he became ill unexpectedly, and they were unable to meet for a long time. He went to see Otsuyu after he had recovered, but when he arrived, he was told that she had died.

Still in shock and heartbroken, he waited until the first night of Obon to pray for her spirit and meet her again. While doing so, he noticed a beautiful woman who resembled Otsuyu and her maid carrying a peony lantern approaching him. They eventually reconciled and rekindled their relationship. Every night, Otsuyu and her maid went to his house and spent the night there.

One night, a neighbor ed by the room and peered in to see what was going on when he heard a woman's voice coming from Ogiwara's room. He was horrified to see Ogiwara in the arm of a decaying corpse, while another corpse rotted in the corner of the room carrying a peony lantern. He dashed to the priest, and the next day the priest showed Ogiwara the graves of Otsuyu and her maid. He then uses paper prayer scrolls to ward off the undead in his home. He also prayed at his house every night to keep the evil pair away because he was concerned for Ogiwara's safety.

It worked for a while, and every night, the two ghosts visited his house, and Otsuyu begged to see him. But gradually, Otsuyu's pleading voice ate him away, and he couldn't bear seeing and hearing her in such sadness any longer. As his health deteriorated, he removed all of the magical wards from the house, allowing her to enter his room. Otsuyu returned to his room for the final time, and they slept together. The neighbors discovered Ogiwara's body in his bed entwined around a corpse in the morning, with another skeleton slumped over in the corner carrying a peony lantern.
