Love at First Sight

What’s up beautiful souls! It’s Seraph with another blog! So recently I saw a trend going around on TikTok with a spanish song called Machu Picchu. The song itself is pretty good. It’s certainly one of my favorites. However, the trend is only for the chorus:

Cuando mis ojos te vieron casi me caigo, casi me, casi me muero

Cuando mis ojos te vieron, no solo te vieron, sino que al amor conocieron

In English:

When my eyes saw you I almost fell, almost, almost died

When my eyes saw you, not only did they see you, but also found out what love is

Basically it’s talking about love at first sight, which is why I decided to do a blog about it! Because over the course of my webtoon/manhwa journey, I’ve seen quite a bit of characters that experienced love at first sight. So here is my list of characters!

It may not seem like it, at first but this man here is quite literally the embodiment of the song. We’re still mid-flashback, but damn Sunwoo has it down bad for Yi-dam. I’m not sure how I feel about him basically stalking Yi-dam, but he never really pressured Yi-dam into doing anything he didn’t want to. Plus he took really good care of him, so I don’t know yet. Apparently, Sunwoo fell for Yi-dam just by looking at a picture of him and when he found out he rode the bus. He started to do the same thing. It’s so cute to see him trying and failing to flirt with Yi-dam, and in the latest chapter he was just blushing the whole time.

Rivanfel was already in love with him even before they met, but I won’t say much so as to not spoil anything. However, if you want to know, I recommend you read the webtoon. It’s really good and it gives some really nice plot twists. Rivanfel had a horrible reputation of being a tyrant, merciless, drunkard, and so much more. However, once we meet him we find out that he’s completely different from that. Teriella might not notice it, but we do see that Rivanfel looks at her differently and treats her well. He was especially careful to warn her family, who had treated her so terribly to be careful of how they address her. Of course, we also see some jealousy when she starts getting close with Elihu.

Another person that he may not have seen like it, but since the beginning he was smitten with Heesung. I that he said something along the lines of “This is the smell of a puppy dog”, initially it had seemed like an insult from Heesung’s point of view but it actually wasn’t. Yi Chiwoon was just iring his scent. My favorite part is when he asks Heesung’s hyung what he likes and he’s at a loss and says something about him liking ramen. Yi Chiwoon laughs because he knows his favorite is the shrimp thing. Heesung just didn’t have enough money. We could see that he really liked Heesung because he took him in as a puppy. He fully knew who that puppy was and took care of him extremely well. He fed him, tended his wounds, and bought him things.

Dooshik is one of my all time favorite characters. This man was whipped for Joonha. He really is so devoted to making Joonha happy. He doesn’t like fighting, but he still ed Jae-il Shin in order to protect Jooha from Pilwon. Also, as the story progresses we find out that Dooshik is actually the one that freed Jooha from the place where he was kept captive. Man hadn’t even met him properly, but he was already saving him. Of course, he found out what Jooha was doing when he went back to the restaurant, but he didn’t really judge him. He did call him a hypocrite but that was because Joonha called him a pervert and well he was doing something… worse. At that time he didn’t know, but it was against his will. He was always saving him from those other perverts. Like when he went to apply for the job, he got rid of the man that was harassing Jooha. Dooshik also gave him tips on how to defend himself, and he was proud when he saw him using them.

Ever since meeting Secretary Kang, Iseop has loved her. He may not have realized it then but he definitely started to have feelings for her. The thing about Iseop is that when he met her again and actually realized that he indeed did like her, he told her. There was no run around in that area. But back to love at first sight. Iseop was drawn to her because he initially thought she was trying to best him on purpose. Miyeong only did her best not trying to shoot for the top. During the flashbacks, we can see that Iseop liked Miyeong, but he wasn’t really aware of what the feeling was. He liked having her attention, but when he didn’t have it or she gave it to others, he got pouty.

It is clear as day to almost anyone who’s read The Remarried Empress that Henry was smitten with Navier when he first saw her. That’s why he started to send those notes with Queen (himself) to try to get her to warm up to him. He was always trying to cheer her up whenever Sovieshu made her upset about something with Rashta. Henry was always visibly extra friendly and cheerful around Navier to the point that Sovieshu noticed it and warned Navier about him being a player. That’s rich coming from someone who had a whole mistress, but I digress. Point is Henry loved Navier and he got lucky that Sovieshu messed up his marriage. If not I’m entirely convinced that he would have been the main antagonist of the story.
