New OC! Hyun Hyunho

welcome to my post!

I hope you're all curious about him, because he's one interesting manster you definetily wanna meet!(Or rather avoid)

His name is Hyun Hyunho, son of the Dokkaebi. He's from South Korea, Soul. (Seoul)

Now you're probably thinking:"Oh cool! But who or what is a dokkaebi?"

Let me be your Google for a moment🤓:

A dokkaebi (도께비) is in Korean mythology and folklore kind of like a goblin. They originate from revived objects that were abandoned or forgotten by their owners. From that perspective are dokkaebi (or goblins in English) different from ghosts since ghosts are souls of dead people.

Dokkeabi are known to be very scary, but also joyful and clever. They are very playful creatures and love to create either mischief or good fortune. They are fond of playing games, but wrestling is one of their favorites.

They are often pictured as demons with horn(s) and a bat that is called dokkeabi bangmangi(독깨비방망이). The bat is their wand that creates "magic". Well, you can call it magic,but what they actually do is they conjure objects that are from other people. They can't create anything out of thin air,so... they're basicly thieves :)

Hyunho has the basic elements of a dokkaebi,but I changed a few things.

Hyunho's bat (actually stick since it's flat)is based off a wooden stick that they used in the Goryeo dynasty for gonjang( 곤장), which is a punishment where they spank people with a long stick on a wooden table.It's harsh, but there are worse punishments I won't mention. After the spanking you'll have a blue butt and aren't able to sit for a couple of days straight lol.

They also have this hat that grants them the power of invisibility. Normally,the dokkaebi give it to the humans, but since Hyunho likes to take things to his advantages, he uses it for himself. He wears a traditional hat named " gat "(갓) in Korean.

For his robe, it's a traditional Korean hanbok(한복). Koreans wore it everyday centuries ago,but now in the modern world, they only wear it for special occasions, like Chuseok ( a popular holiday in Korea) or weddings. Your status is also determined on how well it is designed and which color and patterns are used on it. Hyunho is not really poor as you can see,hehe 👁 :lips: 👁 :nail_care: :sparkles: :sparkles: :sparkles:

And lastly,his shoes. They're called gamushin (가무신). They're also traditional shoes that look so pointy and have a rich pattern. So pretty! I love them.

Jk. Yes he's a brat,but it's not the end yet.

He has all the characteristics from a normal dokkaebi, like his playfulness, cleverness, he's good at sports and games, also competitive, a player- *cough*

He can also be nice...if he feels like it. It's like 50/50. If he likes you, he gives you favors in exchange for something else. If you get on his bad side... Oh boy, be prepared for trouble!

His favorite food is red bean paste rice cakes. You can always use that to convince him to do anything,except going in against his parents. He's not afraid of anyone, but his parents... They're a different story.

He's 199 years old and born in the Joseon era (Old Korea). He has a big family but doesn't hang out with hem,only in holidays like Chuseok. (A Korean harvest festival). He has 24 other siblings, but he doesn't know most of them sadly.

Hyunho also plays the Gayageum and flute, but his music taste is way more modern. He likes Kpop and dresses up in trendy clothes ,but his parents are against it, so he only changes from wardrobe secretly in his free time.
