What is a chakra, and what does it do? To answer these questions, we look to the translation of this originally sanskrit word, meaning “wheel”. Chakra are envisioned as swirling areas of dense energy feilds that help your body.

The 7 main chakras in the body are distinct energy centers that start at just above the top of your head and end at the tail end of your spine. They are said to regulate all parts of your bodily system, and can influence everything from how you process emotion to resistance of disease.

Starting from the bottom, the root or base Chakra, is named Mulādhārā. Located at the perineum, or bottom of your spine, this chakra is thought to be connected to your adrenal glands, bowels, bones, kidneys, spinal column, and arterial blood. This root chakra is a bright red, and forms the basis/ starting point for our devekopment, and is filled with disillusionments that transform into valuable experiences and opportunities for development

Grounding the Root Chakra Yoga Video

The Mulādhārā chakra connects us to the spiritual energies of our ancestors, and also carries ancestral memories. These ancestral memories are recorded in your subtle body, or life energy, and can be memories of war, famine, natural disasters, and general events that threaten our survival. These malignant memories can cause imbalances and/or challenges in the chakra.

Another section of the ancestral spiritual energies that reside in the Mulādhārā energy feild chakra include the karma/dharma of past lives(and current life).

The root chakra holds the most dense colour, as well as the most stimulating. This is theorized to be due to it having the slowest wavelength, and this causes energy and attention to be focused outward.
