If stars bring us hope, hence the words “Wished upon a star,” then why are there no stars in these city skies?
How can my mother pray upon the stars, but have none waiting for her?
Is there a reason for the stars to heed our cries?
We do not usually give it much of a thought,
when we clasp our hands in front of a meteor.
or maybe rather,
we’ve simply been using them to fulfill our longing desires, that someone is willing to listen to our hardships and greed.
Do they make us feel safe?
What part of them give us luck?
Even the brilliance of Ptolemy can be questioned.
The stars are not gods.
Granting audience towards
inhabitants of a minuscule nation?
They do not have an obligation to.
If everything was true,
and the gods were so bored as to
look down from their high pedestals,
surely,
they would have glanced over
a small,
small,
wish from my mother.
Why did she believe such a crude legend
revised into a melody for an old child’s show?
Was it so important to place her trust in something so old and outdated?
I won’t even say she is weak for doing so.
Before,
she had held me so closely.
Then, we were always a foot apart.
Now, she is so far away, we won’t ever touch again.

I didn’t even realize it was you (because I didn’t recognize ur pfp—did you change it? Or am I just blind?) and glanced over this. This is good; I love the subject/topic being talked about.
After all, what’s the point of wishing upon a star when it’s dead by the time its light reaches Earth?
Yeyeyeye
I really like the style of it, the weird mixture of hope and disbelieve. Well done ♡
