Bittersweet

Amai was baking in the kitchen, preparing some sweets for Taro. Amai added each ingredient carefully, making sure to follow the recipe at every step. This had to be perfect! Ayano was ing by when she saw this, and was more than displeased to find Amai so cheery. Putting on a fake smile, Ayano approached Amai cautiously.

“What’s got you so happy?” Ayano playfully asked Amai, “I’m making apology cookies for Taro! It’s a special recipe that means a lot to me. I hope these can help Taro forgive me for the awful things that have happened this week.” Amai sighed. No matter how hard she tried, Amai would always blunder in front of Taro. No secret was safe from him, no sentence remained untwisted. It seemed as if someone didn’t want Amai and Taro to be together. This didn’t discourage Amai, and it even seemed to motivate her to bake more.

“You have a lot on your plate.” Ayano says, trying to act sympathetic “May I help you with the cookies?” Ayano picked up a few bowls and began to mix a few things together. “Thank you so much, Yan-Chan!” Amai cheered “You’ve been so kind to me this week, I feel like I don’t deserve it.” Together baking was much easier. Amai liked to share stories with Ayano, but Ayano never paid much attention to her words. Instead, Ayano calculated each of Amai’s movements and habits.

With the start of each new story, Amai always adjusts her hair and bandana. Every time Amai got her hands messy, she quickly washed them off. Amai was very careful with knifes, even if they were regular ones. After putting baked goods in the oven, Amai would go to the rooftop to get cleaning supplies. With all this in mind, Ayano hatched an evil plan which was already in effect.

After the cookies were put in the oven, Amai started to clean up the kitchen. “You’re an amazing cook, Yan-Chan!” Amai smiled, cleaning off a mixing bowl. “Thank you, but you made the recipe. I don’t deserve the credit.” Ayano responded “Don’t tell Taro I helped, I don’t want to embarrass you.” Amai looked around the kitchen, it wasn’t messy but it needed to be tidied up. “I’m going to the rooftop to get some cleaning supplies.” Amai told Ayano, then left the cooking club room.

And what a mistake it was to leave the yandere alone...

Ayano moved quickly and quietly, Time was of the essence. Ayano went to the nurses office. Using the key she took earlier, Ayano unlocked the medicine cabinet. A small bottle of emetic poison was on the shelf, right next to the clutter of medical supplies. Ayano took the small bottle and returned to the cooking club room. Ayano added the poison to the cookies which have just began to cook, then hid the bottle in her backpack.

Amai returned to the room and began to clean, Ayano helped Amai finish up. “I hope everything goes well with you and Taro!” Ayano said gritting her teeth. She hoped the worst upon Amai, and only felt remorse for Taro. “I hope so too.” Amai sighed. When clean up was finished and the cookies were done, the girls parted ways.

The next day Amai was the laughing stock of the school. The president of the baking club gave Taro Yamada food poising? How terrible! Amai had to give up her position of baking club president, as well as her quest for Taro’s heart. Ayano watched as Amai was bullied and teased, and Ayano enjoyed every second. Taro will be better soon, and then Ayano will get the chance to win his heart once more...
