OVERALLY PERSONALITY: Mienai Aishi is the picture of a sweet old lady—gentle hands, a warm smile, and a voice like a fading lullaby. She dotes on everyone she meets, often offering peppermint candies from a lace pouch or humming nursery tunes from a bygone era. Her dementia has softened her into a state of constant kindness, appearing harmless and even childlike. She talks to birds, knits endless scarves no one asked for, and often confuses strangers for long-lost relatives.
But beneath the gentle fog of her age and memory loss lies something buried and brittle: the remnants of a far darker self. Long ago, Mienai was methodical and chillingly composed. She eliminated the women who stood between her and the man she loved—her now long-dead husband—leaving behind a trail of victims cloaked in accidents and misfortune. She was never caught. She was too clever, too patient.
Now, in moments of rare lucidity, the mask slips. Her eyes narrow, her voice lowers, and fragments of her former cunning emerge. Sometimes she recalls a name she shouldn't know, a detail no one ever told her, or makes a comment too cold and accurate to come from the sweet persona she wears.
She doesn't always recognize these shifts—but those close to her might feel a chill in the room when they happen. One moment she's calling you "dearie," the next she's whispering something that makes your blood run cold. Her dementia blurs the lines between innocence and menace, between forgotten sin and haunting memory.

In 1924, the streets of Kyoto hummed with the shifting soul of a nation—modernity brushing against centuries of tradition. Among the clamor of streetcars and tea houses, Mienai Aishi moved like a shadow. At just 17, she was an apprentice in a kimono dyeing shop, quiet and precise, known for her delicate patterns and her near-invisible presence. People forgot she was in the room even when she was right beside them. She preferred it that way. Less bothersome to act normal.
That’s how she first watched Osamu Takamura, a rising scholar and poet who would stop by the shop for silks, always smiling, always respectful. He was engaged to a renowned court musician named Reiko Watanabe, beloved, graceful, and everything Mienai believed she could never be. But Mienai didn’t envy her. She simply waited. Mienai studied Reiko's routines. She learned which bridge she crossed each morning. Which hairpin she always wore. One rainy evening, Reiko vanished on her way home. The authorities blamed the swelling river.
Osamu grieved publicly, but privately began to take solace in Mienai’s calm, soothing presence. She brewed him tea, listened to his sorrows, stitched patterns of cranes and falling blossoms into his mourning kimono. Another woman, a maid who whispered suspicions, was later found dead in the woods behind the estate—attacked by wolves, they said. Eight more suspicious deaths happened to young women afterwards, all became cold cases or ruled as accidents.
By 1927, Osamu married Mienai. He never knew.
Mienai was the perfect wife—obedient, elegant, selfless. But the fire that drove her never dimmed. Osamu fell ill in middle age after their daughter Kataba was born and ed away peacefully, mourned as a great man.
Now, nearly a century later, Mienai Aishi lives in a quiet care home on the outskirts of Kyoto, her mind adrift in the haze of dementia. She tends imaginary teacups and recites fragments of old poems. The nurses adore her—such a sweet, innocent old soul. But sometimes, when she thinks no one is watching, she mutters names no one recognizes. She touches her kimono collar just so. And once in a while, she looks at someone with a stare so sharp, so lucid, it feels like a blade wrapped in silk.

𝘼𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣
Due to her quiet nature and sneaking skills, Mienai is known as the most sneaky Aishi(Similar in title on to how Dozuki is the most lazy Aishi)
She would have lived to see Ayano born, but would not live past Ayano's tenth birthday. She would never meet Tanken.
To this day, the murders she committed would be unsolved and are probably one of Japan's biggest mysteries.
Mienai is probably the only Aishi to date that has fallen for a man already spoken for(Osamu was engaged)
