Candace had gone through hell the last three years, she had gone through a breakup that traumatized her and she had spent her time avoiding her ex as much as possible. But she knew that their reunion was most likely unavoidable, but she didn't except him to attempt to hunt her down. The ex's name was Joe, he had followed her and her new date to a remote location where they were planning to make out. But Joe had sneaked up behind them while they made out and he hit the man's head with a baseball bat. "Joe?", Candace sounded surprised before he hit her on the head too which caused her to out. Joe wanted to get this over with quickly which caused him to get sloppy, he didn't check her pulse properly before he quickly buried her and the date in a hole that he had dug. Candace woke up shortly after that and she couldn't see anything, it was pitch black. She could feel that someone was next to her, it was her date. She desperately tried to dig herself out and it wasn't an easy task, she wasn't able to pull her date out because he had been buried quite deep after she had moved all the dirt around. Her clothes were dirty and so was her face and body, she felt weak and desperately pulled out her phone to call 911. The ambulance would arrive to check on her and eventually brought her to a hospital, she had a severe concussion from the impact of the bat and the dirt caused her to struggle with her breathing.

She would stay in the hospital for about a week and the police had managed to dig her date out who was long gone, but Joe was nowhere to be found. She was very upset that he got away but decided to leave it for now, she had to recover.

Around three months after the incident, Candace had taken a risk and decided to try and find Joe, which was difficult because he didn't use social media. But Candace had to find him, she wouldn't be able to feel safe until he was gone. The police couldn't find him so she had to take the matter into her own hands, she knew which type of places he despised and which ones he loved. She would spend months trying to find him, she would check the newspaper every day for any sign of him. One day, he slipped. Someone managed to take a picture it wasn't directly at Joe but he was in the background. He was in Los Angeles, a place that he hadn't spoken fondly off and she would be traveling there too. But after the incident she wanted to treat herself and travel in class, she traveled first class to L.A, something that she wouldn't have done otherwise.
