The Nintendo Switch has Sured Global Sales of the PlayStation 4
This is a late post on this but there has been a lot going on. Anyway, the Nintendo Switch has reached another milestone by outselling the PlayStation 4 globally. This is according to VGChartz.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 performed with higher sales in North America than other regions in the world. This is also the same for the Switch. The Switch has been estimated to ship 117.27 million SKUs worldwide, whereas the PS4 is sitting at 117.03 million units.
Even though that the PS4 has been out longer than the Switch, the Switch still managed to sur lifetime sales of the PS4. The PS4 still did extremely well though. Both Sony and Nintendo have been really successful with their consoles.
One factor to consider why the Switch might be selling so well is that it is being marketed better than the Wii U and it is a hybrid device. (This is only a theory by SonicmanTheBest
(me) and is not an official statistic. Bear this in mind.) Just like smartphones, families are more likely to have more than one Nintendo Switch compared to owning more than one PlayStation 4 in their home. Think about it. Are you more likely to have three to four iPhone 13 Pro’s or three to four PS5’s or Xbox Series consoles?
Regardless, both Sony and Nintendo have performed very well this generation and last generation, excluding the Wii U (eighth gen). For more on Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox news, consider subscribing to the YouTube channel or follow here on WordPress.
