In a dimly lit room, Aviaja sat hunched over her desk silently mourning. The sun was going down and her room was illuminated from the remnants of the sunset and a single candle which was placed on the windowsill.
With an inked quill barely in hand and head hung low, tears streamed down her cheeks and met the parchment which was directly below her. This allowed the droplets to land on the paper. Each tear that landed stained the parchment with grief, but only temprorarily.
She knew this had to be done if she wished to continue and strengthen herself as royal mage of ikana. If she had any hopes of becoming grand mage, and closest confidant of the king, it would require all her effort and devotion. The sadness which plagued her only held her back from achieving full brilliance. The sadness of losing Xavus to war.
Sniffling heavily through a trembling breath, and wiping tears from her puffy eyes, she took a moment to straighten her posture and began to let her words flow freely. She wrote as if she was talking to Xavus himself;
My dearest brother Xavus,
Its been 1 month since you've left me. 1 month since I last saw your bright determined eyes, your goofy smile.
1 month since I've last heard your voice, and felt your embrace.
As much as I do not want to, I must accept those are the last memories I'll have of you. I accept it, I do. However, my brother, while I know you're gone and died a warriors death, I also know you will not be forgotten. I still carry with me, all memories of you. I hold them all dear and cherish as much as life itself. Your every aspiration, wish and wisdom shall live on through me.
Xavus, I watched you grow from a little kid into a fine soldier. Although I was always quite nervous in your training, Keeta always assured me you did well. He told me...to be proud. And I was. I was proud.
Of you.
But now, I feel no pride. I feel only sadness. Like this pain, I must leave you behind too my brother. You have done your part for you king, your empire, yourself, and...your older sister. You have brought yourself great honor. Now I must do the same, I must ensure our family name remains. To do so, I must leave my sorrow, I must leave my anguish, my frustration.
And you, my sweet brother. I must leave you, but simply to rest.
Every year, during this evening, I shall visit you once to honor your sacrifice...
And one more thing, Xavus...something I never told you enough..
Thank you
Putting down the pen, she rolled up the paper and nodded as she forcefully exhaled. The stars were becoming visible now. Grabbing her cloak, she tossed it over herself and picked up a small charm from a shelf and tucked it into her pouch.
Leaving the castle hastily, she made her way to the grave yard and was quick to find her brothers final resting place. Aviaja quietly stepped forth and rested the letter beside his headstone. She pulled out the small charm and buried it under a small patch of grass.
Stepping back, Aviaja took one last look at the graveyard. Xavus was buried besides his brothers. His heros. Aviaja gained peace from this. Speaking quietly while glancing down at the stone, a single tear founds its way down her face. She closed her eyes and smiled shortly.
"Farewell, brother."
Departing the graveyard, Aviaja silently vowed to not let anything stop her. She knew a great destiny awaited her and although she never imagined to face it alone, she was prepared more than ever to face anything that stood in her way of keeping her brother and kingdom safe.

This is an entry for the weekend challenge. It is my oc, Aviaja writing to her brother Xavus. He served in the Ikanian Military but was bested in a confrontation. Don't mind the awful writing, I tried :joy:
