Hello!
This drawing originally stated for a prompt for ZAtober (specifically the sword prompt, I think it was day 13 or 14), but life happened, and I also put way more effort into it than I had planned. Anyway, I'm fairly satisfied with how Zelda turned out, though I am upset with the background- it looks way too plain to me, and I had to edit it and remove some stuff that i had wanted to keep. I trusted the process a little too much ig
I actually had so much fun doing this. I've just recently started playing with realism, so pardon me if it looks a little crude, but I'm trying :sweat_smile: I think I'm doing pretty decently at it, though, given how I haven't really studied it! The hair was definetly a struggle, though, but on the bright side, I found that I'm better at hands than I thought (I still hate them). There was more I wanted to change about the drawing, but I got impatient fed up with it, so I just stopped and called it good :pensive:
I've included progress shots even though I have the Hylian Artisan title- personally, I like looking at progress photos, so i like to include them. It makes me feel happy to see how much I had done to the drawing and how I slowly transformed it.

No but fr like it's stunning, what do you use to study and practice? Do you like just trying to redraw some realistic art as practice or what's your process of learning?

So i didn't really study realism- i largely drew a more cartoony/manga style for a few years. I started to shift to a more realistic tone during Art Fight this year (end of July). Again, I didn't study it- it was just a combination between my previous knowledge of basic anatomy and looking at my own face in the mirror and how the different colors and shadows looked when I tilted my head a certain way! I think the thing that helped me the most was knowing how the shadows and lighting worked (besides the anatomy) because that's what gives it a realistic look. I seriously cannot stress enough how important shadows are to realism :sob: it adds depth and really transforms it from a cartoon to realism! Sorry if this isn't helpful, ik the process is unique to everyone. This is just how it personally worked for me. References did help a LOT in the early to middle stages! I still use them sometimes too
