Hi everyone Proserpina here, I’ve rewatched Howls Moving Castle and before I watched the film doing a character analysis on another from Studio Ghibli films by Hayao, Miyazaki. I’m in love with Sophie I’m attracted to people who are selfless, empathetic, caring, nurturing, loyal, and understanding especially rebellious. Also disclaimer! These are my own opinions or thoughts of the characters signs, if you have nothing nice to say please keep to yourself or keep the negativity to a minimum.            To me, Sophie Hatter a Virgo rising because of the presence she gives off eventually the theme song, and animation feels Virgo and Pisces to me alike a story book that tells fairy tales. Since her descendant is in Pisces which the descendant (DC) rules they seventh house. Natives along with rising in Virgo are down to earth, caring, nurturing, practical, reliable, trustworthy, and selfless they must have need to , and heal others alike Pisces. You can’t always help others because has to find their own happiness and practice self care.

           When a vicious witch transformed Sophie into an elderly woman, she was aware of what the witch will do to Sophie if she spoke against her. Throughout the film Sophie has to find the true meaning of true love or what could have turn her back into her old self. Sophie wears a blue dress, brown hair, and originally wore a dark black cloak however it disappeared when she took a step into a strangers place. It’s so unusual, magical, and fascinating.

As form of closure, Sophie gives so much Virgo presence that made me feel like I relate to her on a level, and she feels so gentle hearted and angelic alike a guardian angel who guides you through the dark. In order to move on forward is keep moving in the dark no matter what you’re heading for exactly, when you’ll find what you want.

                                 To me, she’s sun in Virgo due to the way she acts so nurturing, kind hearted, disciplined, and down to earth reminds me so much of a Virgo, as sun in Virgo natives with this sun sign are angelic, helpful, kind hearted, practical, and trust worthy. Also her cleaning up the place is another reason why her sun sign are easy to spot to tell the truth. Since Virgos rule they sixth house in the natal chart of health, hygiene, work environments, and work routines. And I could never forget that Mercury are their ruling planet of the nervous system, and communication.

                                 This places her sun in Virgo on the first house of first impressions, and outward personality which Aries, and Mars rules since personality are most important to them than caring about appearances, and beauty. Aries people often cares about people’s imperfections, and flaws. Sun in the first house shows that the person isn’t hesitant to take action when someone’s is in danger or needs help. As sun in Virgo they are trustworthy due to their need to help, and aid others even if they don’t need their assistance. Virgos don’t expect anything in return because that’s who they are, Virgos are alike angels that guides you through the dark.

                                 As form of closure, her rising and sun in Virgo makes so much sense for me and I have an idea what dominant sign would be for Sophie if I had the chance to delve more into her dominant zodiac sign. Dominant signs are calculated by the positioning of your placements (planets in the signs), aspects between them, and the ranking. To me personally I have guess she’s a Virgo stellium and dominant to me in my opinion, especially the aura she gives off are motherly like a white aura as the moon.

           To me, she’s a Moon in Virgo this would place her moon sign in the first, when moon are in the first house the person are extremely emotional, empathetic, sentimental and not to be trifled with if you dare to play with her emotions be sorry or don’t be sorry. Unlike air and fire signs, Moon in Virgo people are well mannered, self disciplined, nurturing, selfless, and sensitive. Their negatives are acting cold hearted or aloof, too serious, sometimes strict, and critical of others actually Sophie’s a developed sun and moon in Virgo due to her self discipline. To have control over anything first self restraint or you won’t get what you truly want yourself.

           As form of closure, Virgos aren’t hesitant to speak up for themselves sometimes they struggle, and are smart, and understanding. Virgos knows what they mean and uses their words carefully when speaking with others especially in public. If you want Virgos to like or trust you take love slowly, be disciplined, don’t be too rash or you won’t be well liked, and be yourself Virgos are good at observing their surroundings than observing people. They can observe your body language, emotions, and how you communicate. Earth signs rely on their other senses unlike air and fire signs.

           To be honest with you I was debating on mercury in Virgo or Libra. Before I decide on choosing either of them understanding the meaning of the mercury signs are important. When mercury is in Virgo individuals are practical, trustworthy, down to earth, sensitive, and selfless. Their negative traits are critical/judgmental, nit picks or goes too far pointing out people’s flaws, unemotional, and reserved.

While mercury in Libra are more charming, diplomatic, intellectual in a tactful way, sociable, and warm hearted. Their negative traits are indecisive, difficult to express themselves emotionally, gullible, easily lies depending on the Libra you meet, and can be sad depending how they feel.

           The common things both Libra and Virgo have in common is that they care for the well being of others, but they only share or show by helping others either please others. Another one they both have in common is the need for there to be sense of justice, and fairness, and lastly Virgos and Libra has disregard for violence, chaos, and havoc.

Since we understood the differences between Mercury in Virgo and Libra, and what they have most in common. To me, she’s a mercury in Libra Sophie Hatter loves doing her job, and her association with crafting or making hats makes it clear that Libra’s ruling planet rules the fine arts, performing arts, and crafting. Sophie’s a craftswoman who creates hats for women, and girls at simple hat shop.

Another one is the way how she talks with Howl with discipline unlike fire signs. Because mercury in fire signs has no self discipline or no self control of their emotions, actions especially when they’re in public.

           Overall, Mercury in Libra are more suiting for her. Because the way how she speaks, and acts feels airy and Libra to me in my opinion. Before I forget, this places her mercury in Libra on the second house of money and finance. The house rules Taurus and Venus since her family or sister runs the shop, she’s must have work super hard to make money making hats, and selling them, when she left though there weren’t that many customers. Because her store didn’t get as much customers except for the witch from the waste, but judged then Sophie defends herself that it’s simply a hat shop.

                                 To me, she’s Venus in Cancer because of her devotion to love, and understanding others unlike fire, and air signs. Cancers must have need to feel their emotions, and how they think before judging others. This is what actual empathy are precisely, water signs feel before they judge or speak for themselves showing they’re mature.

                                 However, the way how they behave won’t change how they love although there’s nothing wrong with having to change for yourself only. This places her Venus in the eleventh house in Cancer showing she has sense of community, which are often shown as sign of kindness, humanitarianism, and comion although rebellious, and emotional Cancers aren’t afraid to speak up how they feel. Venus in the eleventh house sounds like a good placement, especially for a water Venus. For a rational reason they’re ruled by the element water of change, and sense of community, especially doing selfless duties to do good for others even if it is for the planet, and caring for animals.

As form of closure, Venus in Cancer are suited for mostly Venus in water signs, but are also compatible with Venus in Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Their greatest compatibility are Venus in Pisces, Taurus, and Virgo to me

           To me, Sophie is a Mars in Virgo which places on her first house this means she’s honest, and direct unlike other individuals, and knows how to speak up for herself. Also in the scene where she had to clean up Howl’s place, she took the cleaning duties seriously, when Howl and the young boy told her to not go too far cleaning his place, Sophie didn’t listen. This is extremely Virgo to me because Virgos are associated with the sixth house of health, hygiene, cleanliness, work environment, and routine.

           As an individual with mars in the first house, along with her rising in Virgo she takes her job responsibly, even if she’s lazy or not Sophie uses her time as being patience which is often associated with earth signs to clean the place or do other duties she must get done. Especially cleaning the place thoroughly are most important to her actually.

           Overall, Mars in Virgo and in the first house makes her professional, discipline, hard working, persistent, and persevering alike Capricorn, and Taurus. People with planets in earth signs get underestimated for being slow, and especially getting work done. Because we take them seriously, thoroughly, diligently, and responsibly.

           The true node unlike other celestial bodies, and the ascendant (rising) are considered mathematical points they take about 18 years, 7 months, and 9 days to complete their cycle. Also the moon nodes are about 1.5 degrees to me her true node are in Libra on the second house ruled by Taurus, and Venus of money. This shows that she wants to find her own destiny looking for a partner or a man. So Sophie can live a long life with the person she indeed loves, which is actually Howl. From my observations, her true node in Libra shows that Libras are good at getting a man’s attention, charming, flirty, and romantic Virgos don’t flirt.

           As form of closure, Sophie was happy being with Howl ever since she step foot into his home in an unusual vehicle, and place where he rests, eat, and what he normally does when he’s at home. As wizard, his place is magical and unusual reminding me of their opposite sign Aquarius that are known to be weird, aloof, closed off, humanitarian, rebellious, and intellectual. Howl is like knight in an armor protecting the people that are important to him, although he’s a wizard who practices magic, and made contract with a fire demon. :fire: :new_moon_with_face:

Sophie Hatter’s a Virgo & Libra dominant, since she gives so much Virgo presence, but with touch of Libra for their creativity, and association with the arts, and craftsman showing she has experience in making hats, and also sewing. Sophie also fashionable and her appearance are aesthetically pleasing to the eye which makes her Virgo, and Libra to me in my opinion.

To me, she has Ceres in Cancer making her emotional, nurturing, helpful, comionate, and loving, without anyone to love her life is just meaningless without someone to love her back. Also this places her Ceres in the eleventh house, showing she has sense of community, selfless, sensitive, serious, and willing to fight for the well being of others or bring justice. Overall, Sophie is well liked character for her loving nature, being helpful, kind hearted, funny, and down to earth.
