The Angles PT 1

When astrologers refer to "The Angles" in your natal chart they are talking about your four houses' (1st,4th,7th, and 10th) cusp.

'HOUSE Cusps' are the lines that separate one house from another.

In our natal chart, we have four cusps that are more important than the other cusps. The Ascendant (AC), The Midheaven (MC), The IC, and the Descendant (DC).

What does it all mean?

Well these angles represent 4 parts of our personality and 4 areas of life that affect us most.

The Ascendant

The ascendant (also called Rising or AC) is the part of us that is called "SELF"

IDEPENDENCE over FAMILY: Why we choose to leave our childhood home and live on our own (Ascendant VS IC)

ME over WE: Why we choose to stay single over being in a relationship. (Ascendant VS Descendant)

Who I Am VS How I Look: Why we choose to follow our own ideas and values over society's ideas and value.

This one is a little more complicated to explain then the other two. Because people who act more like their ascendant will appear selfish and ignorant in the eyes of society without realizing it. Whereas people who act more like their Midheaven CAN act like the Ascendant but they will be AWARE of how society looks at them and feel somewhat restricted. (Ascendant VS Midheaven)

To understand the Ascendant more: note that it's NATURAL ruler is Mars.

(It loosely could be read like a Mars sign)

Mars rules motivation and ambition and our natural instinct to ACT (whereas the moon represents our instinct to be SAFE)

Our Ascendant is the part of us that gets us to live. Its what we look to when we try anything new.
