4.26

On April 13, Swift took to Instagram Stories and posted a pastel background that included a countdown. The countdown led to 4.26 and since theb, Swift has been posting a new photo every day, leading up to the event. Each photo all had 4.26 as a caption.

Time 100

Between the cryptic posts, Taylor announced that she was one of the people to be on Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. Her article was written by Shawn Mendes, who opened for her on the 1989 World Tour and was a special guest for The reputation Stadium Tour. Mendes' essay can be read here.

Time 100 Gala

Six days after Taylor was on Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, she went to the Time 100 Gala in a beautiful pastel dress. Her dress was a mix of pink and yellow with matching detachable sleeves, converting it into a strapless dress. Her hair was pulled back into an elegant updo with a headband braid. She performed five songs, which included Style, Delicate, Love Story, New Years Day, and Shake It Off in front of a small crowd. Taylor was spotted with her best friend, Abigail.

Gulch

Swift made a surprise appearance on April 25 in Nashville. She wore a pastel purple set which included a crop top and maxi skirt, giving off 1989 style vibes. She met with a bunch of fans that showed up there, despite no word of her actually going to show up. Swift posed in front of the new butterfly mural at The Gulch in Nashville, Tennessee. She hinted that there are more clues to her new album within the mural.

ME!

On April 25, Taylor announced on ABC that at midnight on April 26th, there would be a new single (along with a music video) called "ME!" The song would be featuring the band Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie. When Taylor announced the single, new merch appeared on her website. Swift also took to YouTube and ed in on the live chat that happened during the premier, which happened two hours before the drop.

"I love it. It’s bright, bubbly, and upbeat. Critics seem to despise the song by saying its too ‘juvenile,’ but I don’t think a song has to be super deep and sad to be good. I’ll it, it’s not that lyrically strong, but her lead singles never are. I’m certain we can look forward to even better songs on the album.

“I think that choosing Brendon Urie for the collab was a genius move and that he fits perfectly on the track. It’s a fun ode to individualism and we shouldn’t tear it down just because it has lyrics like ‘hey kids! spelling is fun!’. Besides, that lyric is hilarious and always brings a smile to my face. In my opinion, LWYMMD was a stronger lead single, but I still absolutely adore “ME!” and it’s just an amazing song." ~SchoolGirlCrush

Billboard Music Awards

On April 26, Taylor and Brendon went on Good Morning America where they announced they would be opening the BBMAs with "ME!".

Breaking Records

The ME! music video got fifty-seven million views in twenty-four hours, making her have the most views in twenty-four hours for a solo female artist. She is also the first female to have broken that record three times. She is also #1 on iTunes Charts worldwide.

Benjamin Button

In the ME! music video, there was a scene where Brendon made Taylor happy by giving her a kitten. Swifties were speculating if that was her new cat, or if the cat was just meant to be in the music video. Taylor later announced on her Instagram live that it is a boy and his name is Benjamin Button.
