Edit 2: I don't even agree with this review anymore... Deemo is one of the first mobile rhythm games and, now that I have played newer, better games, it's age really shows...

Deemo is a suprise gem on Nintendo's newest console. It was already praised as one of the best rhythm games ever devised, and has now received MAJOR improvements just for the version on the Switch.
Deemo is a rythm game made by Rayark, the developers responsible for games such as Cytus, Implosion, and most notably, VOEZ. The game itself is very similar to VOEZ in that notes or "keys" as they are called here are dropped from the top of the screen and you need to tap on then at the right time.
The gameplay is simple, as already explained, notes fall from the top and you must tap them on a specific line. The twist compared to VOEZ is that there are no predetermined "lanes" for the keys to go down. So instead, let's of varying lengths will come down in any random spot on the screen. The game is also VERY demanding of you. The touch sensitivoty is much lower here, so you must make sure that you tap firmly. It's a struggle to get used to for the first 5 sheets or so, but it gets easier really quickly.
Graphically, this game has me amazed. The hand-drawn pieces that go with the numerous songs in the game all look absolutely breathtaking, the backdrops in the click-and-point segments look even better, and the actual sheets are minimalistic. Some may argue that this choice is a bit bland, but I believe it to be a stylistic choice. There are no flashy lanes or colorful backgrounds to distract you from the keys, so it actually becomes slightly easier to see and tap more precisely.
The story is simple... maybe. The basis of the plot is that Alice, the little girl, has fallen into the house of Deemo, a creature who plays the Piano in solitude through a window in the "ceiling", which is actually the sky. Deemo makes it his mission to get her back, and to do this, he must grow a tree in his house. How does he grow this tree? He plays his Piano, of course! How else would you grow a tree? With sunlight? That's so old. The story is heartwarming and just beautiful to be told. Even after playing through it 4 times in a single weel, I was always thoroughly entertained by the adventure that transpires in this story.
I have saved the best content for last. The music! I'm actually listening to it as I am writing this review; it's just that good. As you may have heard if you have been watching the videos, the music is pretty good. The game boasts a massive tracklist almost twice the size of VOEZ's. So you would think that, like VOEZ, I would only like some of it, but that's just not true. There was not a single song that I disliked. You probably don't know how impressive that is. Take it that this game has over 200 playable sheets and at least 10 different BGMs. Of all of those, I like them all. That is a truly impressive feat, Rayark. Congrats!
If you are a fan of Rythm games, you may have heard that the other versions of the game got a lot of criticism for its progression system. It was incredibly slow and this pacing ruined it for some. However, Flyhigh Works has offered a solution! You unlock new songs and collections faster than you can complete them! In doing this, I was able to play through the entire story without replaying a single song! Once again, very impressive, and a very welcome change.
Deemo is a wonderous game of tapping and finding and experiencing. You can play through numerous sheets, locate new ones, and save Alice. The game's visuals are very fitting for its genre; they look great where they need to, and keep distractions away when needed. The music is just divine. Everything just works together and it's beautiful. So, I have no shame in saying that Deemo has risen to the top of my list of games. It is now my favorite game ever. And it beats Xenoblade's 9.8 score in my personal review book. Deemo is all charming, with no misses.

I had basically been waiting to launch this review since I bought the day, the day it came out. However, I decided to 100% it first. I thought that would make it more complete.
