This is Nomad! I hope you are all well! You know the drill by now. It's Sunday, which means that it's time for the next Chapter of Splat Force V: Final Frontier!

Now, these past few Chapters have been quite action-packed, haven't they? We've had street riots, large monster attacks, and a flashback war, and we're not even a quarter of the way in! So, how about we slow down a bit and catch up with everyone.

This Chapter is going to be a shorter one, focusing on the wellbeing of everyone on the team as they come to with the troubling news that The Beholder had thrown on them in last week's Chapter.

So without further ado, let's get into this!

New Baxter Village, a peaceful town away from the madness of the big city. It was a place of union, community, and peace, and it was also the village where Rex Allen was Mayor. The floors were made from pale bricks. There were small accommodations made from dark wood with brick ceilings. The open area was in the shape of the letter I. At the lower section, along with many of the accommodations were mini Marketplaces and a school. To the right of where the truck had stopped was a large, wide house.

The higher section was shaped like a circle, like the dot in the letter I. The left side had another large building, though this one had circular pillars at the front. In addition, it had an announcement pedestal at the front of it. The right side led down to the docks where residents could either fish, go on a boat trip, stare out into the sea, or all three. In the center, surrounded by rope fences was the statue of an Octoling woman who was wearing Splat Force. This, of course, was the statue of the late Alyssa Frida.

The press and villagers were gathered around the announcement pedestal as the Mayor and Deputy-Mayor were on stage, the former of the two was the one making the announcement.

"In recent days, we've seen the world turn upside-down. The gifted are back, the sky has turned purple, and dark creatures the size of buildings have been causing chaos and destruction. I realize now that fulfilling my duties as Splat Force Commander requires I make sacrifices."

Rex told his people, setting them up for the big announcement. Cameras were already snapping at him, though Rex didn't flinch or squint his eyes at the flashes.

"So, it is with a heavy heart today, that I announce my resignation as Mayor of New Baxter Village. Deputy-Mayor Howell Hewitt will be taking office later today, effective immediately. Thank you."

It is then that the camera flashes went from constant yet tame to absolutely mental. Former Mayor Rex Allen walked off of the stage, allowing the now sworn in Mayor to clear his throat give his speech.

"Attention! Can I have everyone's attention, please?"

As he did that, Platinum greeted him at the side of the stage. She looked up at her unsure father, giving him a warm, reassuring smile as she whispered to him gently.

"Well done! I'm so proud of you!"

Platinum held out her hands, still keeping the smile on her face. Rex looked down at his daughter's hands before looking back into her eyes. He started to smile as well before finally taking her hands, holding them tightly.

After gaining taking the subway to Splatsvile, as well as travelling through the outskirts of the Splatlands, Samantha arrived at the old abandoned Power Plant where the final battle against Bolton Vulcan commenced. Of course, it was also the final resting place of her deceased sister, Ami Stewart, who turned to stone and was now stood in place on the balcony, forever looking into the distance.

Walking over to her frozen sister, Samantha kneeled down behind her, placing a small bundle of magenta flowers by her foot before standing back up and walking to Ami's side.

"Hey, Ami."

Samantha whispered, looking at the statue to her left before glancing at the sun. It was then that she scoffed and looked at Ami.

"It's funny, this is the only time where I'm glad you're not around to see the world. You would not like it very much."

After staring at her late sister for another second, Samantha looked back at the sun and let out a heavy sigh.

"But at the same time, I'd still give anything to get another hug from you right now."

She whispered before looking back at her, sorrow lingering in her eyes.

Magnus Lang was at his parents' home, giving both them and his daughter, Mary Lang a visit. The bottom floor of the Lang family house was a large open room with a fireplace against the wall on the left-hand side from the front door, alongside several sofas and a carpet. At the back was a dining room with two shelves on each side of the table, one of them being a bookshelf.

Above the fireplace was a variety of photos, including one with Oswald Lang and his girlfriend, one with Hugh and Hilda holding hands and leaning their heads into each other on the couch, and one of Magnus and Oswald standing next to the famous idol duo, Off The Hook.

The news was playing on the TV showcasing yet another gifted attack, this time situated close to Splatsvile. This made the Lang family worried.

"The world's on fire right now."

Hugh Lang said outloud, stood and facing the TV. He wore a black vest with grey shorts. His deep red hair was fully shaven on the back and sides, and he had a small mustache. Unlike his son and wife, he didn't speak with the Lang family accent. He looked back at his son, worried.

"And according to you, it might be ending."

"Yeah... or at least, that's what that giant space man told us."

Magnus replied, sitting on the couch wearing his casual clothes, that bring a dark green buttoned shirt hidden underneath an olive flight jacket alongside loose grey shorts on top of black leggings. Sitting on his lap was his infant daughter, Mary Lang, who's body, and thus future hair and ink color, was a beautiful shade of black. Magnus looked down at his obvious daughter.

"I don't know what to think of the whole thing, to be honest."

His mother, Hilda Lang, decided to chim in.

"You and that team of yours have faced threats like this before, right? Maybe you could pull it off again!"

She told him, trying to be reassuring. She wore her signature outfit, that being a purple shirt under green overalls. Her ginger hair was tied into braided pigtails.

"I have to, because the idea of everyone not havin' a future..."

He said before pausing to look into the eyes of Mary's smiling face. He forced a smile at the young girl, gently stroking her left cheek with his right index finger.

"The idea of Mary not having a future is just horrifyin'..."

The couple had paid a visit to the home of Emily's mother, Kyle Moray. The walls and roof were peach and smooth. The floor was a navy blue carpet. The whole first floor was squared and split in half. The left-hand side of the lower half had a two-seat black-leather sofa that faced the TV that stood on a desk on a rectangular wooden drawer with two square drawers to the left and right side and an electric fireplace in the middle.

On the far left-hand side wall were bookcases that held both DVDs and books, both fiction and non-fiction books were sorted into their own row, the former getting the top row and the latter getting the top-middle row. On the right-hand side wall was a small spiral staircase that led to the second floor. Next to it was a closet that was shut.

Straight ahead was a bar-like table with stools against a wall. To the left of the table was the entrance to the kitchen. On the right side of the back wall was a door that led into a single bathroom with only a toilet and a sink.

As the news entered the weather segment on the TV, Kyle sparked a conversation with her daughter.

"Any updates on Zane?"

Emily shook her head.

"No. Still nothin'..."

She answered. Emily was in her casual clothes, consisting of a light blue pajama shirt hidden underneath her father's old open jacket, alongside tight black shorts and long white socks hidden underneath white trainers. She also wore her signature beanie.

"I've been checkin' every day, but I've found nothin'."

Kyle slowly nodded and sighed. Hearing the tone of voice her daughter was using, she tilted her head and gave Emily a reassuring look.

"Please don't feel too hard on yourself!"

"Kinda hard not to when it's the end of the world!"

Emily aggressively spoke back, having a bit of an attitude, though it wasn't intended, and Kyle knew that. Shauna gently placed her right hand on Emily's left shoulder to try and calm her down, which seeing as it was Shauna, Emily calmed down. She sighed, hiding her head in her hands before looking back at her mother.

"Sorry about that... how's Aunt Selina doin'?"

"She's still struggling after all that's come out recently. It's weighting her down a lot."

Kyle informed. That was to be expected from someone who's son was revealed to have been alive and brainwashed.

"She's also not looking the brightest. I had a video call with her earlier, she looked pale and really frail."

As she listened to her mother, Emily held her hands together and began fidgeting with her fingers, with the fidgeting getting more and more aggressive until she reached a small boiling point.

She closed her eyes took a loud deep breath, stopping almost all noise in the room, except for the TV. Quickly cooling herself down, Emily finally spoke once more.

"I think I might go on a walk. I just need to clear my head, I'm sorry..."

Emily said, holding her stomach as she stood up and walked to the front door.

Understanding her daughter's mental state, Kyle nodded.

"It's alright, don't worry."

She assured her.

"Just text me if you need anything."

"Yeah, of course."

Emily said before looking back at Shauna, who looked up at her from the couch, worried.

"Sorry for bailin' on ya. Are we meetin' at the base later?"

Shauna nodded.

"Yeah, that's the plan."

"Alright, guess I'll see you then."

Emily said as she opened the front door.

"Love you both!"

"Love you too!"

Both Shauna and Kyle said in unison as Emily left the house, closing the door behind her.

Most of the team were at the base, all gathered around the desk. Rex was sat at the desk, with Platinum and Samantha to his left and Magnus to his right. Neither Shauna nor Emily were there yet.

Moments later, Shauna arrived alone, greeting them with a warm smile.

"Hey! Sorry if I'm late, it was a long travel."

"No need to be sorry, we were just chatting."

Rex assured Shauna as she ed the group at the far end of the room.

"Where's Emily?"

"I last saw her when we visited her mother. After that, she disappeared. I'm a bit worried."

"We all are."

Rex replied.

"Did she say where she was going?"

"All she said to me was that she just needed to clear her head."

Shauna answered before shifting the topic.

"What's new with you guys then?"

Seeing as he was already engaged in a conversation with Shauna, Rex took it upon himself to answer first.

"Well, as of this morning, I am no longer Mayor of New Baxter Village."

Shauna had to do a bit of a double take.

"Wait what? What happened?"

"He stepped down so he could focus on fighting whatever it is that this Malefor guy has planned."

Platinum answered.

"Of course, he didn't tell the public about Malefor, because why would he?"

"Good point..."

Shauna replied.

Samantha decided that she was to answer next.

"I woke up early, got a train to Splatsvile and wondered through the Splatlands until I got to Ami's resting place. I placed a few flowers by her and I just spoke for a little bit."

She told the team.

"I know it's only been a few days since the last visit, but with the world potentially ending, I thought that I might as well."

Magnus nodded.

"Yeah, I agree. Perfect mindset to have."

He replied before speaking for himself.

"As for myself, I visited my parents and my daughter, they all seem fine right now, Mary seems to be missin' me, and umm... I don't know..."

"What?"

Rex asked, seeing the worry in Magnus' eyes.

Magnus exhaled softly before looking back at Rex.

"I just hope whatever we do, we succeed. She deserves a future. I want to at least rest easy knowin' that she'll have a life, ya know?"

Rex nodded.

"I understand, more then anyone."

He told him. Right as Rex was speaking, Emily entered the base. She was now dressed in her full Splat Force gear. All eyes went to her.

"Hey Emily, up to much?"

"Went on a little walk after visiting Mum's house."

She explained before sharing what she was up to after she left.

"I paid Fisk a quick visit, hence the gear."

"Oh yeah?"

Shauna said softly, walking over to Emily and holding both of her hands gently.

"Yeah, I told him about the end of the world and he said that if me or anyone here needs anythin' that he'd be willin' to help, that kinda stuff."

She explained briefly.

"You been here long?"

"No, I only just showed up as a matter of fact!"

Shauna said with a light giggle, making Emily smile.

"Not too sure about everyone else."

"Oh, we've all been here about an hour. We met at Inkopolis Square."

Samantha informed.

"Well, that answers that!"

Shauna said with another giggle.

"You got any plans right now, or are you just gonna be vibing here?"

Emily gave Shauna a small smirk as she thought of what to do.

"To be honest, I think I might find the nearest restaurant and use the bathroom there, not been all day. Are you able to-"

"Yeah, of course!"

Platinum was confused.

"I'm sorry, able to do what?"

"Help me in there. Been struggling to use the bathroom since wakin' up and havin' stiches around my stomach. It's been hurtin' and Shauna's been helpin'."

Emily answered.

"Aww, that's nice!"

Platinum said in response.

B Z Z Z Z Z Z T ! ! !

Magnus suddenly felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He took it out and saw that the General had sent him a message.

'Hey Magnus, I hope you're well, are you able to come over to the base later this evening? There is something important that I feel I must share with you.'

"What is it?"

Platinum asked.

"Luke sent me a message. He's askin' me to go to the R.A.I.C base to show show me somethin'."

Rex looked intrigued.

"It might be important. I'd go."

"Yeah, that's what I'm plannin'."

He replied before dialing up the General's phone number and calling it, walking away from the group.

By now, Emily and Shauna had already left, and Magnus now had somewhere to be, leaving just Rex, Platinum, and Samantha, the latter of whom announced it with a hint of enthusiasm.

"And then there were three!"

Rex chuckled before turning his head towards Samantha.

"Samantha, is your mother still living with you?"

"Yeah. She's still sleeping in Ami's old bed."

She answered, quickly becoming curious.

"Why?"

"I was just wondering if she could do me a small favour."

Rex replied, only intriguing Samantha more.

L A T E R  T H A T  E V E N I N G . . .

Arriving in the General's helicopter, Magnus Lang approched the base of the R.A.I.C, landing on the silver platform, in front of the silver, wired fence. Both the General and Magnus got off of the helicopter and walking through the open, automatic metal doors.

They walked through a gunmetal hallway, along the way they ed a tan, bulletproof window. On the other side was a white room that was dark, looking like it hadn't been used in years. Inside was old equipment that looked to have been made of stone.

As they made their way to the meeting room, Magnus felt the need to start the conversation.

"So, what is it that you called me here for?"

"After the sky went purple, I had the Squid Research Lab search for any strange phenomenons happening around the world."

"I'm guessin' they found somethin' then?"

"Yes."

The General answered as both he and Magnus entered the meeting room. Upon seeing Magnus with their General, everyone in the room knew to leave them be. Once the room was empty, General Bishop stood at the table and began touching the screens on it.

"When the gifted Meteorite imploded, it released radiation into the atmosphere, and that radiation was what caused the gifted. They detected that the sky now has that same radiation, although the how is yet to be discovered, however..."

As he spoke, the General opened up a simulation of the entire world map. Magnus was quick to notice that one small mark of land, an island in the middle of nowhere, was flashing pink. The General tapped on the island and zoomed in.

"This small island seems to be covered in it completely. It's radiation is off the charts."

Magnus made a very educated guess coming from what he was hearing.

"I'm assumin' that it's the same radi-"

"Oh no, here's where things get interesting!"

The General said to him as loads up a stats comparison between the radiation from both the sky and the Meteorite, and the island. Magnus read the stats and was shocked at what he saw. The General looked at Magnus' confused face.

"It's not a match."

Magnus felt his stomach turn. Something about this was really not sitting well with him.

"I don't get it."

"Neither do I."

General Bishop responded, looking back at the table screen.

"All that we know is that the radiation isn't lethal, so it won't give cancer. In fact, it's not said to do anything to anyone whatsoever."

"Right..."

Magnus replied, pressing both hands on the edge of the table as he tried to think.

"So, what's the game here?"

"Well, we reckon that this area is of interest to us both. It's the only place on the planet that is having this effect."

General Bishop suggested as he thought of the possibility of an attack.

"I'll bring some of my men with us incase more of those weird black creatures pop up."

"Sounds like a plan."

Magnus said before walking to the exit of the meeting room.

"I'll just need to get my team together first!"
