Okay guy’s welcome to my casual cosplay tips and tricks. I’m gonna teach y’all a good ol’ lot from my years of closet cosplay!

I believe closet cosplay is the best place to start if you want to try out cosplaying but you aren’t sure if you’ll like it fully because this is normally fit to use things inexpensively cause you use most of what you already own, if you can’t find anything that suits the character then a quick hop to the charity shop is always an answer plus the money goes to a good cause!

Ok so I think that honestly closet cosplay is the best place to start out. It’s great for a cheap but fun cosplay.

I started out with a closet cosplay for my first ever con and honestly at first it was cringy to look at and still is to this day but takes a lot of practice.

Sure the first time you may not get it right or like the way you look but take that and TAKE NOTES. From there you can build upon it and work on what you’d like to change.

Crossplaying can be fun and if you do it and plan on doing it a lot I suggest if you’re female buying a chest binder, it’s safe and relatively easy to use. I’d suggest doing your research on which binder is right for you in price range and material. DO NOT under any circumstances bind with bandages, they can be extremely unsafe and bad for your body in the long run.

Most budget clothing shops sell clothes that are cheap and can be good for your first Crossplay. So if you can’t find anything in your closet that you think would fit your character’s personality.

My tip for your first time is put an aot character in the modern world and think about what they’d wear. What job would they have? What would

Wether you’re casually cosplaying as Male or female you’re probably going to need a wig and little extras to depict your character better.

Depending on the website and type of wig you will find ones at different prices.

I find amazon is a good place to buy wigs safely without the risk of it being particularly bad quality. However, if you’re feeling kinda risky wish has some good wigs that don’t cost too much.

Just make sure with wish you check their reviews and if anyone has posted pictures then check them out! I got my Levi wig from wish and it’s pretty good, just needed a trim.

-Amazon is safer and faster yet the wigs are a bit more expensive

-wish is cheap yet you’re risking yourself and it takes a bit more time.

   ➳ [Finding clothes to fit your character

Ok so lemme tell you how I find clothing that fits my character:

Step 1: open up that good old internet and look at fan art of the character if it isn’t an OC. Look at these pictures and especially the ones in modern clothes.

Step 2: find ideas in these pictures you like and agree would fit the character. If needed make a mood board or look on polyvore! People put up what they would think as outfits for the characters a lot and it can help a lot.

Step 3: open your closet and look if you have anything similar to your ideas.

If not charity shops always carry some good stuff

Also budget clothing stores have some really good knock offs of more expensive stuff.

Some pros and cons of casual cosplay

Pros:

fun, cheap, a great place to start cosplay and it doesn’t mean you’re committing to cosplaying since most of the stuff you can easily wear out and about.

Cons:

wigs can be expensive, binders are also expensive, it takes time and takes up some concentration.
