Haruku loves open spaces where she can spread her wings and fly, she loves dancing to most genres, though pop is her favourite. Haruku enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Haruku is fond of animals, and the outdoors. Haruku’s favourite hero is Hawks because he is the hero she can most relate to. She loves how he uses his speed to save people, and she wishes to do the same! Haruku’s favourite season is spring because she loves to watch how nature thrives during the season. Haruku enjoys drinking mochas to keep herself awake and energetic during the day.

»Haruku does not like the rain because it makes her wings damp and can prevent her from flying if the downpour is heavy enough, because of this, she also rarely enters water above the waist and prefers not to swim in beaches or pool settings. Haruku does not like to sleep, because she was raised nocturnally- she would rather be awake and in the moment, be it night or day. Because of her her quirk however, she will be forced to spontaneously fall asleep if she has spent too much time being active during the day. »

»reminiscent of the colouring on a barn owl, Haruku’s hair is an ash blonde, followed with brown tips, when it has not been washed in a long time, it will appear slightly darker and sleeker. Like a bird, the appearance of her hair as well as the plumage on her wings will vary depending on her mood and temperature. when content or cold, her hair and wings will appear to be much more fluffier. Though when she’s hot, angry or intimidated, her hair and feathers will appear much more sleeker. The overall appearance of her hair and feathers will be determined by what the more prevailing emotion or temperament is at the time«

»Haruku’s hair is kept short mainly because it becomes thick and fluffy if it grows too long, to prevent her hair from getting in the way during the day, Haruku will alleviate its thickness by fastening it into two small buns using her favourite flower hair ties, during the winter when it is colder, she will be more prone to leaving her hair out completely.«

»Outside of her uniform, Haruku enjoys wearing shorts, and midriff t-shirts. She is also partial to halterneck as well as dresses and shirts which expose the back.

»Depending on the weather, Haruku will favour summer dresses that are just above the knee. For formal occasions, she will resort to longer dresses exposing the back to allow her wings their own space. Her favourites styles include dresses with side-slits for more mobility, as well as mermaid-styled dresses because she thinks that they’re really pretty! «

»Haruka’s choice of pyjamas include pair of long checkered yellow pants and a warm yellow t-shirt to match, occasionally in summer she will swap out the pants for a pair of shorts, as well as a short yellow nightgown with a chibi Barn owl on the front with a cursive font reading “Night Owl”«

»Haruku’s clothing is tight and aerodynamic, providing plenty of space at the back for her wings, she wears a pair of aviator goggles that she wears when flying at greater heights. Her gear exposes her forearms but covers the rest of her body. The suit mimics the natural colouring of a barn owl.

»Haruku’s Owl quirk is a mutant quirk which allows her to do basically anything that an Owl can, Its strengths include the ability of virtually silent flight, an acute sense of hearing and exceptional eyesight which becomes even more powerful during the night. Like a barn owl, Haruku is capable of turning her head a full 170 degrees in either direction to provide her with a larger field of vision and minimising the amount of blind spots, she does however rarely use this aspect of her quirk due to it freaking out her classmates in the past, when angered, Haruku may let out a owlish screech that can temporarily stun her opponents, this stun will only work if the enemy is not expecting Haruku to do it, it is something that she has no clear control over and can only be done when angered.«

«Quirk Drawbacks»

»Haruku’s main drawback of her quirk is that if she over-exhausts herself during the day, she will have the chance to spontaneously fall into a deep slumber. Depending on how strenuous the activity was, the maximum amount of time she can fall asleep for is about 10 hours. She has been training to lessen the effects of exhaustion, though conserving her energy during the day is normally her best choice. She does not have this problem at night. Haruku’s wings are used solely for flying and cannot be weaponised in any way, shape or form. Sustaining an injury to the wing will cause her to be unable to fly for a time unless healed by a medical professional or someone with a restoration quirk. Injuring a pin feather can also lead to uncontrollable bleeding if she is not careful, this can be a lethal injury and should be avoided at all costs.«

»By the nature of her quirk, Haruku is best suited for patrolling and being active throughout the night, because of this, she struggles to sleep as of the night time, but is able to sleep just fine during the day. Despite this, Haruku prefers to be awake and active during the day.«

»While Haruku’s bad traits may seem manageable at a first glance, they can interfere with how she views things as well as how others perceive her. Her overly-excited personality combined with her short attention span interferes with her ability to “read the room” and how she reacts to certain scenarios. With Haruku, there’s barely a quiet moment, as she feels to fill the void of every conversation, of course- not everyone who she keeps in her company is appreciative of this gesture. Sometimes when Haruku becomes overly excited, she will unintentionally disregard the feelings of those around her, this can quickly be remedied by expressing your feelings to her«

»Haruku is quick to express her happiness to her friends, but if one were to upset or irritate her, it could be defined in a very clear. When Haruku is upset someone she will often avoid talking to them at all costs until they apologise (if she knows that they are in the wrong.) part of her quirk carries through with her in the way of behaviour, where much like a barn owl, she may hiss or screech to express her anger. Luckily, Haruku is quick to forgive, and even so could be quickly distracted from her initial feelings and forget them entirely.«

Backstory

«Ages 5-10»

»As a child, Haruku was rather quiet and reserved. Living on a nocturnal sleep schedule meant that for the most part, Haruku would have to rely on quiet activities like reading and writing to the time and to not disturb the neighbours. Because there were no schools open during the night, Haruku was homeschooled by her mother on most nights, during her first years of homeschooling, she struggled to grasp language as an entirety and would often refer to herself in first person. Other nights she would go with her mother so worked as a casual in a late night supermarket. Haruku loved visiting these places with her mother because it allowed her to get a glimpse of what the world was like. Haruku’s father worked during the night as a janitor in a local high school. Haruku’s understanding of the world derived solely from her experiences in the supermarket, as well as on the television. For most of her childhood, Haruku’s mother would clip her wings in order to prevent her from hurting herself. Due to this, Haruku had never properly been able to fly.«

«Age 10-13»

»At the age of 13, Haruku saw Hawks for the first time on the news, due to her limited understanding of quirks due to not being around as many people during the night, she was stunned to see another person with wings on the television- like her! And he had used his wings to become a hero. Haruku grew to ire the hero greatly because of this, and would listen in and watch anything she could to learn more of the man. A few weeks later, for the first time- Haruku expressed her interest to fly to her mother and father, while her mother directly opposed this because she herself hadn’t even used her wings to fly as she hadn’t been taught. Her father on the other hand, ed her desire to learn to fly and would take her out during the night to practice this skill. To express her gratefulness, she proclaimed to her father that she would use her ability to help save people, just like Hawks. Though her father did not approve of this. He explained to Haruku that while living nocturnally, it was hard to do good for the world and be recognised for it when no one is awake to witness it. Though after hearing this, Haruku was not dissuaded from the path of becoming a hero. Instead, she chose to go against the very nature of her quirk by readjusting her sleep schedule so that she would become used to being awake during the day.

And at the age of 13, Haruku saw the sun for the very first time.«

«Ages 14+»

»At the age of 14, Haruku was still diligently trying to ready herself to enrol into a hero course. Like many others Haruku had her sights set on getting into U.A. Though due to her past in homeschooling- it would be hard to apply for such a prestigious school without any grades to go off of. At this point, it seemed Haruku’s best chance would be to somehow score a special recommendation. Immediately the first hero who came to her mind was the one who had inspired her thus far. During the day while her mother and father were sleeping, Haruku snuck out of her home in order to find the hero, though she had no clue just how overwhelming the city could be during the day. In a short amount of time, she found herself lost in the concrete jungle, uncertain of where she had come from, or where she would go. As she walked the streets, she came to a park where an elderly woman stood, calling out repetitively to her cat who had managed to become stuck in the branches of a tall tree.

In a moment of empathy, Haruku decided to do what she believed to be the right thing.

Using her wings, she fluttered up to the cage of branches the feline was held in, and carried it to its owner on the ground.

After the woman profusely thanked her and hobbled away, Haruku was approached by the very vermillion-winged man that she’d been so desperately searching for, on the subject of the heroic act she’d just performed.

The number three Hero, Takami Keigo, known more popularly by his alias, Hawks.

After a drawn-out conversation that ranged from the aforementioned act of heroism to the reasoning behind it, Hawks decided to provide the little bird with the recommendation she needed for UA (the school she had told him she dreamed of attending).

Once she was given the letter of recommendation, she and Takami parted ways, and Haruku was convinced that they wouldn’t interact again (which caused disappointment, but was understood).

Then came the internships.

Haruku, of course, applied for the Hawks Agency; why wouldn’t she? Keigo was a long-time role model.

She didn’t expect acceptance from the Hero, but it was given to her surprisingly quickly.

(Takami recognized her name, and, because he genuinely believed in her potential as a Hero, he accepted her application.)«
