Hello Everyone!

Today I will be continuing the pet feeding series. I know eggo got the most votes and I’ll be doing him next but today isn’t his feeding day but I still wanted to continue the series so I just decided to do the pet with the second most votes which was my girly Cheyenne. I just want to clarify all pets are different and require different diets, there’s obviously a general guideline for diets but do what’s best for your individual pet.

Cheyenne’s Feed

Fed : twice a day

Type Of Eater : Slow eater

Activity : Ridden and or lunged once a day, has all day access to a pasture.

Grain

Cheyenne is on a grain that is not very sugary and is high quality. Her old owner used to have her on a very high sugar content grain when she didn’t need it and it led to issues, so we changed her grain slowly when we adopted her. This is given twice a day.

Anti Anxiety Supplement

Cheyenne has had anxiety since we bought her, since we believe she has suffered abuse, so we have her on a supplement that helps calm her nerves which helps a lot when riding as well since she’s not as tense. And she’s improved a lot on this supplement. She used to be on hoof supplement as well however we just apply a sealant to her hooves by the advice from her farrier. This is given twice a day.

Water

Cheyenne always has access to water, so does all our animals we don’t limit something so vital. I also add just a dash of water into her grain in the mornings and nights, I just mix it around and she loves it.

Hay

Cheyenne is given hay twice a day in her hay net, she usually gets one to two slices, and in the winter she obviously gets a lot more. She currently is being given first cutting, we prefer to give her second cutting since I like the quality a lot better. However the first cutting in our area seems to be the most nutritious since a horrible drought hit right before second cutting started. She’s actually somewhat low on hay right now and we’re deciding which cutting we want delivered. I also put the hay in a hay net so it’s fun and stimulating for her and slows her consumption down.

Salt Block

Cheyenne always has access to her salt block and she does use it on occasion. Sometimes I get her fun flavored blocks like apple but right now we just have a boring salt block lol.

Grass

On top of hay Cheyenne has access to her pastures 24/7c but she’s not alway grazing and sometimes just spends time in her stall away from the heat so we always give her the option of hay in the summertime as well as grass.

Veggies & Fruits

I give Cheyenne a fruit or veggie for every dinner meal, she doesn’t have them in the mornings and I keep this schedule consistent! And she does have one of her mint treats in the morning.

Treats

Cheyenne has one puffy mint in the mornings as a treat after I ride her, just as a reward for being a good girly after a ride.
