~ :heart: Mario’s Sweet Relief :heart: ~

Okay, so! First thing’s first. A while ago I was thinking a lot about Super Mario 64’s ending cutscene, where Peach is released from the castle walls and thanks Mario for saving her. I just thought it was so freaking cute! So of course, being an artist, I just had to do a drawing of it.

At first, it started out on paper. I was supposed to add more detail for the background, but never got around to it. It was left like that until recently, when I found out about the Super Mario 64 contest. It was the perfect opportunity to complete this and digitally too, to make it look even nicer.

Even though I had a head start, it still took what felt like forever to finish, despite the fact that it only took 4 days. Then again, I did work on it for many hours each day.

For the stained glass window of Peach, I won’t lie. I…traced it off of this image I found. It’s the official render Nintendo did of it back in the day. But even though I traced it, I coloured and added the details myself. This is the original image:

And for Mario’s side, I used this picture that I took of the exact spot I wanted Mario to stand in:

As for the final effects, I saw someone’s drawing in a featured post and thought the effects were so neat and wanted to try it out on my piece. Especially since SM64 is originally 90s game. It worked and came out looking perfect!

(When I finally finished it, I was so relieved and tired that I totally forgot to add my signature, so I only added it to the main piece. I hope that’s okay. ^^; )
