cypher pt 3! one of the most underrated track. since we've got such a hot topic to discuss upon who needs an introduction for this blog. Not only to get directly to the point but also, to not make the blog extremely lengthy when analysis blogs are already lengthy.

the lyrics belongs to genius lyric site. the analysis is my perspective which may or may not correspond with the actual meaning behind the song. All the pics used in this blog belongs to their respective owners, i don't claim any of them.

the song is one of the 4 official cyphers by BTS rapline – RM, Suga and Jhope. This song features Supreme boi. It is the 7th track of 2 cool 4 skool album released in 2014.

BTS since the very beginning has been receiving a lot of hate. RM and Suga both belonging to the underground rappers whereas jhope belonging to the hip-hop had been receiving hate from their own community. Usually the idols are made not to pay attention to any of the hate or problems arising and

ought to ignore them but here, when you start receiving hate instead of from your own people i.e the underground rapper and hip-hop community it would be really heartbreaking for anyone. RM is aiming for those "rappers". whatever he do what he will only and only

receive hate and criticism for that but whatever he do is real, more real than what other rappers do. He put efforts in being real and producing raps hip-hop along with his fellow mates (here) - jhope and suga rather than doing hip-hop from keyboard (criticizing people/busy hating on them rather than doing anything)

they all take raps as a joke (saying it's easy to) when they are all doubtful about the manner they rap in (mostly probably mean by lyrics by keeping it vulgar and not meaningful/the style). RM goes with triplet flow, which is really easy that it is well known among the Korean and international rappers which makes lots of hip-hop music sound similar.

He points out that he've been rapping in triplet flow unlike those who uses triplet flow to seem trendy for views and recognition but also, he can do lots of other types of raps with his original styles.

here they've cleverly censored the cuss word with "mother-father" which more or less sounds just like that cuss word, i won't mention since this child friendly analysis 🤝 also it talks about Aphasic. Here what I found about it-

He tells them to look at the mirror of reality and reflect upon themselves. For recognition and views they tend to plagiarism other artists work labelling it as theirs. Then they still have guts to hate someone who is real. If they want to become on top then they should do something original.

Ever since the debut, people has been mocking RM for his name – "Rap Monster". He proud fully welcomes them to the "monster" plaza, his territory where he is on the top of everything, every other rapper.

the line "you are a drain and i feel content" is actually "you are a sewer and i’m savory". It is because of the Korean lyrics. This line is more or less dependent on the previous line where he says "backwards beat". He uses a phrase along with group of letters to make sense for forwards then backwards. Which creates you are "ha soo goo" and i am "goo soo ha"

Korea is a country which gives every talent individual an opportunity to shine even kids too. He says that those kids who lack of knowledge of rap and can't rap have their opinions (hate) on rappers and especially on RM since he is one of the talented rappers in Korea. They are protesting on RM's skills when their own skills are protesting towards them.

Despite of their opinions, his faith in himself doesn't shake. He is confident and on top of his skills unlike those who's pockets (of talent) are empty i.e they are poor (talentless). He says he doesn't need "GIVENCHY". GIVENCHY is french luxury fashion and perfume brand, founded in 1952. He doesn't need this big famous house's sponsorship to shine because he is already a star.

Neither he needs HUGO. HUGO is also a luxury brand. In Korea, it is not allowed to mention brands in their songs due to censorship law. If they do they won't earn any profit with airing that song. He knows this very well but he still goes against this censorship law because he doesn't need any profit with airing this song, he is already a boss.

Also, Namjoon uses Buddha and Butcher here because Buddha is rhyming as Butcher in Korean. It's pronounced as "Bucheo" (Buddha). People tend to put their phones on airplane mode when they are flying. RM is saying that he (here, those rappers) doesn't even need airplane mode because they aren't flying – aren't successful. Unlike those rappers, he is so successful that his roaming fees are hundreds of dollars. They are so talentless that they sound make money with rocks instead of raps or hip-hop, sell rocks just like rock sells. From San Paulo to Stockholm they cannot afford to even get near to RM.

Supreme boi adds something really catchy to the song with this verse. He says that he has a lot haters but he've no problem with that. "Shovels" here is "삽질" (sapjil) i.e used to describe "pointless actions". So, he means those who are trying to bury him and his career are wasting their time. He simply doesn't care and he is prepared enough to endure their hate.

Jhope is talking about their four albums — 2 Cool 4 Skool, Dark & Wild, O!RUL8?2 and Skool Luv Affair. In which Dark & Wild was a regular and full length album whereas rest three were extended play album.

he is telling the haters that this track will be something which will make them go completely silent because it's exposing them (the triplet flow etc details). He isn't going round & round like other hip-hop artist and rappers. He is going with the flow along with his teammates. Whenever they release something, those people from hip-hop community who was once his family dislike him.

He tells them to go back and look in the mirror because the gap between them and him is enormous before cussing at him. He is on top of his career, much far away from them that they cannot slander him since he is too busy to pay attention to them. There's a lot of Wordplay in this song one of such is used by jhope too – 삐끼 (bbikki) and 삐삐 (bbibbi). Both seem to be rhyming.

bbikki is a slang for "night barkers", especially those at clubs making it more as – night club barkers. In english night club barkers are replaced with the word "Bait" but in Korean it's not bait which also give it different meaning in Korean. It means to feel a good chance of coming.

He includes his unnies/older/female/sister/s (haters) as night club barkers too! Bbibbi is a pager/beeper so he mean "all girls call me, page me" or he mostly probably used bbibbi as a beep sound to censor another cuss word just like RM "all girls call me, beep/XYZ" where this beep/xyz is unknown cuss word.

those who look down on them needs to learn how to love themselves, reflect upon their lacks, go back and look in the mirror before they come at him or his teammates because they are jealous of BTS, their music and achievements. They should try being successful because none is holding them back.

He is on top of the flow. Just like a "beagle", beagle is a dog bread here he uses it to describe himself as someone who is cheerful, extremely energetic and enthusiastic. Beagles are generally not aggressive but sometimes

they are when they try to show dominance or when it comes to protecting their territory. He is comparing himself as one because everyone someone tries to invade his territory he turns aggressive (burn up).

By strengthening he is on top of his territory, ruling like a King and he claims his territory to be Korea. More like he is warning the korean hip-hop artists as well as the international ones. He uses mansik' for people who like to imitate. Those who imitate others to seek attention,

seem cool but are unoriginal. He tells them not to imitate others since including english slangs in Korean raps are trending, when their sloppy pronouncation doesn't make it look cool at all. He makes them look at himself because he is much better than them.

Cypher pt 3 was out in 2014, whereas "Agust D" was out in 2016. He says his second name (unofficial) at that time when he was only known as Suga and not Agust D. We can take that as a spoiler for 2016 solo music.

He mentions Apgujeong which lies in Gangnam gu, Seoul i.e is one of the wealthiest neighbourhood. He belongs to Daegu, where he grew too. He suffered from poverty while growing up in Daegu.

He mentions that how much distance is there between Seoul (Apgujeong) and Daegu, the wealthiest and the poorest. Regardless to the wealth gap everyone enjoys his music. They know his music (all across the country) also/ regardless to the distance between both districts.

According to the Korean encyclopaedia, Jakdu means straw cutter, a shamanic device on which shaman performs their dance to present their spiritual powers. Just like a shaman, he dances on his own song to demonstrate his abilities. Now, he consider himself as a shaman. Here's the straw cutter -

He uses Kagemusha , a Japanese word which means to denote a political decoy. It is also a reference to several asian cultural especially south asian. He consider himself as a Kagemusha because he says that none actually knows his real self as what he shows himself is mostly his fake self. He wears a mask to cover his real self.

He also uses a negative connotation i.e 세치 혀 = three inches tongue but in English it is translated as "big talk". He uses 세치 혀 for someone who talks big and usually uses their words either to attack or fool someone else. He aims at those who are lazy. He uses bbaengkki in Korean lyrics for someone who fools others as what they are supposed to do when they aren't supposed to.

He will become stronger no matter what, those words which are meant to damage him. Those who carries out online game terminology in real life, on him which is a large scale attack carried out to destroy/damage the opponent.

Bulgasari is an imaginary creature in Korean folks which is often painted on exit places because it is believed that painted the monster on exit places will provide them with protection against disasters. He is a monster who grows up by eating metal in its surrounding.

Just like a Bulgasari, He also grows up by eating all the jealousy which is not going to harm him in any way but only & only provide him and his rap with strength.

He has grown far better than those lazy seniors who imitate others or those seniors who are talentless and once used to look down on him and his work. Just like RM, he also pointed out on those lazy underground senior rappers.

He points out those who have gained age but not standards. For him they are aging but are on a level of a kid. He welcomes their hate and insults, whether he is this or that but by that, he is the new standard of the music industry.

In conclusion, BTS cleverly draws a line between those rappers who only have fun everytime they make money by following what's "trending", those who imitate others and are unoriginal, who are lazy & between them. Since the debut they recieved hate from their respective communities that's when they realised the world is complicated. Rather than falling into despair, they chose to grow stronger and original. That originality made them on top of the country which only they could dream about. RM draws out the part that those who hook around and are lazy shouldn't compare themselves to him, those who lack of knowledge even kids are more knowledgeable then them but at the same time, those kids who are not that much knowledgeable don't have a right to hate on him. He stands for his hard work not for following trends. Jhope pulls out that they used look in the mirror before coming after him because the gap is enormous. Whereas, Yoongi who tells them to give up on hate and jealousy because these factors make him carve more for making music. They make him stronger just like a Bulgasari.
