We all started somewhere - in a world of trial and error. I started out watching videos of people making these beautiful spreads which made me want to start my own. I saw so many ideas and I wanted to implement all of them into my own.
But first - I had to buy a journal. I didn't want anything expensive or fancy just in case I didn't like it or messed up. I ended up buying a teal $5 turquoise, soft covered, ruled notebook from a store called Five Below. It was just a regular bound notebook with a brown ribbon page holder. The pages were white and smooth.

I wanted my starter spreads to be colorful and artistic. For my key page I tried to draw a pretty skeleton key with the bullets as the key teeth. It was inspired by a pin I found a while ago. I used a gold paint marker for some the headings and some small details. At first I thought the gold bled through the pages but it ended up drying with no bleed-thru suprisingly.

Other pens like my Ink Joy Pens bled through and they are only regular ballpoint pens. It was really strange... The pages did take well to Pigma micron pens.

For my year overview, I wanted to make it look like a fair and add color. I didn't have Supertips at the time but I used my favorite medium, color pencils (Crayolas to be exact.) I feel like Supertips would bleed very badly anyway. I did color code my events and holidays opposite of the overview. Drawing it out was a bit of a challenge though since there were no vertical lines as guidelines.

For a main tracker, I wanted to track the weather and use cute drawings. I made a page dedicated to weather icons. At the bottom was a line from an old Panic! at the Disco song.

At this point, I was happy with how it turned out. Minus the bleed through of the pens which I think came up later...
I look at it now and I'm all :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

If you are feeling discouraged about your own bullet journal, don't worry. It will get better as you continuously use it.
I'll be posting more of my old bullet journal next week so stay tuned!
Happy Journaling! :grinning:
