││   it’s been a little while since i’ve posted

││   art on here, so i thought, what better way

││   to ease back into it than having fun with a

││   challenge? i got to incorporate one of my

││   favourite disney movies (i have many!),

││ the haunchback of notredame!

││ so many of the visuals in that movie

││ are absolutely stunning, starring one of

││ the more underrated characters of disney’s

││ franchises, esmeralda.

││ because i love the way she was portrayed

││ in the movie so much, i chose her to be

││ drawn as an animal crossing character.

││ i feel that her personality would be a strong

││ and enjoyable one in the game! i purposefully

|| depicted her on a blank background as i think

|| the detail i put in the work is only flattered with a   ||minimal backdrop ;)

the hunchback of notredame dances around heavy topics of injustice and revolution, and so at first i struggled a bit with finding a way to portray a character part of such an important movie in a more light hearted game like animal crossing.

i ended up deciding on emphasising esmeralda’s personality if she were an animal villager in a “lore friendly way” that would be more fitting to the game. i thought if esmeralda were a villager, she would definitely be an uchi cat. her character would be very sisterly and caring, yet feisty and stubborn as well, as uchi characters usually are. i think it would be a very fun idea for animal crossing to incorporate more “self aware” characters that understand if the player is making fun of them, and if they did esmeralda would definitely be one of them.
