Telescope Goldfish Facts

I’ve always been fascinated by this certain type of goldfish for years now, ever since I watched a video from solid gold aquatics. And hopefully one day I’ll adopt one! However today I wanted to share some random factual information about them.

These little guys can live up to 10 - 15 years with proper care. However most goldfish types do live long lives, so please keep that in mind when adopting.

They are best known for having bulgy eyes, which is a trait people either love or hate regarding this variety.

The telescopes official scientific name is Carassius auratus auratus.

The average approximate growth of the fish is around 8.0 inches but it also can be between 4-6 inches .

These fish come in many color variations, such as: orange, red, white, red and white, calico, tri-colored, blue and finally chocolate.

The eyes of these telescope goldfish don't start to protrude until these they are about 6 months to 1 year old.

The telescope goldfish originates from China, and it is believed they were developed in the 1700s.

These beautiful fish are also called the demekin, dragon eye goldfish, and globe eye goldfish.
