Getting Into Character
First of, you must know what your character does it it's personality before playing it's role (e.g. Levi). I know some of you have known Levi and some are not, so basically, getting into character such as him is pretty easy for me since I have known his abilities, skills, personality, childhood etc.
Although, there's some twist you need to do to get into character a lot better. Levi has this kind of personality that a person may or may not have, but they can still play as his role.
About the twist, You have to do some scenes that it isn't like Levi or any characters you're using. It's pretty hard to explain, but if you could understand what I'm saying, it's easier to do it.

Hi I'm Ayumi, Today I'm showing you how to get into character. Want to make a fanfiction or roleplay with your favorite characters, I'll help you. First you can put your character in a different situation, like being late for work or walking their dog. Put them in places they never been before.
Another way to get into character is to practice writing. What are your character's feeling, you could write about that. If they are having a bad day or just in a good mood, its always good to practice writing it out on paper or in your head. Or you could use emotions to tell what they are feelings right now. In this next paragraph, I'll show you an example of that.
Erwin was outside his house, gardening. He looked up to see a bee on a sunflower, he sighs softly. "Ah. I forget what it was like to see what it was like...before the war." He said as he trimmed a leaf off a rose with a pair of clippers. Closing his eyes, he felt like the ing days were a dream. No longer hearing gunshots, soldiers screaming or the sound of bombs raining from the sky. Perhaps, today the flowers will blossom before his break?!

I think all of us want to be a part of a good Roleplay chat, so we should do something about it too. For me, getting into character is really important. I often get into situation where I have to Roleplay one character, even though I’m not really familiar with it. I would read a little bit more about character, for example their height, eye color, what they like, dislike etc. All these details could help you to build a really good character! You can find all of the informations about them on Google and it could really give you an inspiration to write more about them.
Describing your character is really important, so the other person could picture that character too.
Example: ‘Mikasa walked in. She ordered a coffee and sat on her usual seat.’ This is a little bit boring, isn’t it?
Example: ‘Black haired girl in her early 20s entered the room. Her raven hair was shining under the early morning sun, bags under her eyes showed tiredness, but she still had a bright smile. Her black eyes were roaming around, looking for familiar face, while she was waiting to order. She ordered a cappuccino, her favorite coffee, and sat down at the table in the corner of the room, where she would usually sit.’
Better? Just try to find as many details as you can, but you can also sometimes put a little bit of your own soul in your character. For example, my favorite coffee is cappuccino, but I wanted my character to love it too! Enjoy your time Roleplaying, sometimes the tips that we gave you, and it will be just fine!

To build your character, you have to learn and figure out what or which character you're good at. For example you watch the show and see what you and that character have in common then learn their personalities, characteristics, etc. that's your roleplay man/girl. Now I'll be giving out an example that I've learned from a character from studying their characteristics.
"Eren glanced around the room, sitting cautiously as his hands rest on his lap. The brunette looked down narrowing his eyes as flashbulb memories popped up in his head about his father and what he had learned from levi, erwin, and everyone else he had recently talked too. He quickly looked up his eyes widen, standing up glancing around scanning before putting his hand on his forehead looking worried as usual. Eren turned walking out the room slowly as bandage from his head fell off as it wasn't put on right, ignoring it he continued walking thinking to himself."
That concludes this little thing about building your character. And hopefully you know about making the way he/she is in your roleplays as well with some knowledge have fun with your character. OCs are sometimes based out of yourselves or something you've made up. You should know something about that already but yet again have fun.

To get into character or build character, I suggest listening to instrumental music, HDsounDi is a great source. Otherwise, Study up on the wikia's of the character. Roleplay more often as the character you are trying to build. For example;
"Jaeger, You done with that yet? I'm tired of waiting for your slow ass with cleaning." The onyx haired male said, Crossing his arms ant tapping his foot against the pinewood floor. His slate-blue eyes glittering in the lighting.
A good song I recommend listening to to help with is 'eternity' by Franck Barré. It helps me when I get into character for levi, And when I'm making my writings. well, I've gotta go! Have a good day AOT amino !

In order to build your character's personality, and get into character better, the first step would be to find a character who you can relate to, so roleplaying with them will be much more fluent and easy for you.
Roleplaying as these characters, for you should have multiple, you never want to limit yourself, will make your writing more fluent, and not so forced. If you happen to get stuck with a character you aren't familiar with, ask around, I'm sure someone knows the character well enough! And even doing a little research, paying attention to the character's speech pattern and habits, can help!
For an example, I'll use Mikasa:
"Mikasa looked around the base for Eren. Her bob-cut black hair left bangs in front of her face. The only thing she could think about, was how worried she was for her adopted brother."
Better version:
"Mikasa Ackerman scoured around the base for her brother, Eren. He had been the one to save her when they were kids, and they both shared a close bond. She was worried he would get hurt when she wasn't looking, it felt like her duty to protect him, it was the least she could do." As you can see it flows better, and is in all easier to read.

Getting yourself into a character is generally a pretty easy thing if you know how to do it. In this months LT tips some of the LT will be helping you learn how to build your character or get into character. One of the easier ways is to try to think like the character.
The other way is to not make your character very out of character and basically try to stick with what sounds best. Read the tips below to help you out as you attempt to get better!
The first way I will help explain how to build your character is by trying to somewhat be like the character. If your character is like you, an example is your personality, you may be able to connect to the character more. If the character is not like you, try to think about what they would be thinking. If you want to play Levi, you wouldn't be very energetic. On the other hand, if you're someone that is energetic you would want to act like that character and not be very sluggish. Having your characters attitude and personality is a big help to get into character.
The second way is to not make your character very unusual. Try to stick with things that are common with the character. Adding a bit of things are alright, but make sure they would be something that the character may actually do. If you're playing Eren and say that he cannot titan shift ever, this is one way that the character you are role playing as can be unlike the actual character. Doing ships are alright, even if they will not happen in the manga or anime, but do make sure that the other person is comfortable doing this ship. This is a possible way of building up a character, since other people in the roleplay can see how you act around each other. I hope that that these tips helped you out some, good luck roleplaying!

How to build a character
Hey guys! It's Jimin! I wanted to help give a bit of tips on how to build a character. When you’re new It can be especially difficult building a new character of your own. You’ve most likely been introduced on a character in a movie book or TV show but making one of your own is definitely challenging. One way I start is to brainstorm in your head or on paper some elements of ired characters you’ve noticed such as physical elements, character development, character behavior and mannerisms, character depth and backstory and things that make the character themselves.
When you think of the character Levi, what do you think of?
- His body structure and height
- His strict behavior towards his acquaintances
His cleaning addiction
- His skill and perception towards the survey - corpse
- His past in the underground
- How Levi has developed since episode one
Perhaps?
These are all elements that help others understand and connect with characters as if they were real people. These tips should help you connect your audience with your new character!

Snekasa’s Guide to Getting Into a Character
So, you found a canon character you’d like to roleplay/write about but don’t know how. Or maybe you created an original character and are trying to get a feel of the character. Well, worry not! In this tip post, I’m going to give you some advice on how to put yourself in the character’s shoes and effectively roleplay/write about them.
Tone is an Important Aspect
When you read the word “tone”, you’re probably thinking about the tone of voice someone has. That is similar to how an author/roleplayer writes about a specific character. In tone, the person writing has to have a specific attitude towards their literature to have the reader better understand the character. This is especially important if you’re ever writing or roleplaying in first person, as you have to show the reader the world through the characters eyes.
The tone you use for a specific character can have a big impact on your prompt. For example, take Eren. He is known to be an angry character who hates titans but loves his friends, so for him you’d probably want to convey anger, hatred when he’s interacting with a titan. This is just a little example: “The green eyed male glared at the gigantic beast, his eyes blazing with anger as watched it move closer, closer, and closer towards them. They were told not to engage, but Eren couldn’t help it. If they hesitated once, everyone could die. His vow to kill them all would have to wait, apparently, as disobeying orders could bring punishments. The brunette would wait for the signal to kill it... and then kill them all.” Notice how in the first paragraph, instead of stared, I used glared to convey hatred/resentment or anger towards the titan. I also tried to include Eren’s impatience in having to wait to kill the monster due to orders. When you’re using an original character, however, the attitude they have towards something is mainly up to you, as it is your creation and you can have them be however you like.
Research the Character
One of the most important things you can do when writing about a character that isn’t your own work is researching them. What are their goals? What drives them? What kind of personality do they have? Do they react to certain things differently? These questions, and many others, will help you better understand the character and will help you when figuring out the story you want to tell using them, as it will help tremendously when you put them face to face in a situation they excel or are terrible at. You wouldn’t want to put Hanji mercilessly killing titans, as they are known to actually love them for research purposes (shown when they interact with Sonny and Bean). You also don’t want to put Mikasa in a situation where she’s in public and showing her emotions for all to see, as she is known to be a more reserved character like Levi. As for Original Characters, if you have a character who’s more down to earth, you’d probably write about their daily lives rather than how they feel about the titans. If your character is a soldier (Trainee, MP, SC, or Garrison), you can write about their feelings towards their work. Do they like it? How do they feel about a specific part of the job? Do they have a best friend who’s also in the same regiment? These can help you further expand your character rather than having a two-dimensional one.
That’s all the tips and tricks I have for you all! I hope you enjoyed and can use these to better improve your writing or roleplaying. Bye bye!
