Why does the world hate us

Does it not want us to be together

I want to dance with you

I want to smile with you

I want to be with you

But so many things are trying to separate us

I just wish you could be with me here

First they say you have to 17

Then they say you have to be the same religion

Then They say you can’t be the same sex

Well darling I don’t care

I don’t care what they say

I don’t care how far away you are

I don’t care, I really don’t

Because baby I love you

And I’m going to stand by your side

I’ll soak up their poison for you

I’m going to shield you from their hell fire

I’m going to stop the sticks and stones

And be the shield from their hurtful words
