Welcome Creators to today's poll session of:
Would You Rather?
If you weren't here when we did this last week, I'm going to post the full question here, and you just have to pick an answer from the two options given. So without further ado:
Would you rather
Lose the ability to read?
-or-
Lose the ability to speak?
Bonus if you can explain why you chose your answer!!
I'll be voting as well, but I won't vote until the last day of the poll. Come by at the end if you want to see what I chose

As most have stated, there's plenty of ways to speak without physically speaking. Reading is fundamental in every possible way. You can't get around not really knowing how to comprehend much of you can't read it yourself. You can have it explained to you, but if no ones willing to talk to you then you'll never know what's going on lol. I'd prefer not to speak in all honesty. It gets to be draining
I can go without speaking, there's writing or sign language instead.
But I think it'd be pretty hard to find a job or education if I couldn't read
Yeah that's pretty fair. Reading is fundamental
If I couldn't speak I could simply write on a notebook. <3
Reading however would not only affect how I communicate with others, but every thing in life. I for one can't cook without following a recipe straight up. I'd be doomed lol
Oop-
Yeah that's fair. Sometimes I need to follow a recipe for certain dishes I want to make
Reading plays a crucial role in everyday activities such as following instructions, understanding labels, or navigating written signs. While being mute, at least there are alternative communication methods such as sign language, general body language and facial expressions, writing, or technology-assisted communication, which can help alleviate some of the challenges.
I like that take! There's so many ways to communicate that there's really no end to how you can understand others
