Hello there! It seems you’ve decided to
me by the comforting hearth, so
I believe I ought to tell you a story from
my past. Don’t worry, it’s quite the riveting
tale, so I’m sure you won’t fall asleep too
quickly! Wahaha! Anyway, it all started back
when I was a pro hero, in a world full of Quirks....
Back then, my fellow heroes and I
were all eager to accomplish our
first missions since graduating from
the great high school UA! I had no
idea that I would end up in a whole
other universe, full of ninja, at the
hand of one man’s Quirk by the end
of the night. Let me simply recount
the events of that night, and all of
the tales of the world beyond too....
Edit: Thanks sm for the feature Mr./Mrs. Curator/Leader 🤧 :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart:
As the rain swirled around me, I jumped through the air, traveling kilometers without having to kick off another rooftop. Having the pure strength of a Quirk like One For All, which I am now totally allowed to explain to you kids, can be very handy even outside of a fistfight. Beside me were my comrades who had graduated in the same class, Aizawa and Hizashi, who were being carried by Enji since their inability to fly would inhibit them from keeping up with us. We had a deadline that we could not afford to miss, since we were meeting with my mentor and the well-known pro hero Nana Shimura. She would be guiding us on our first assignment, which was to capture a villain by the name of Shifter. This alias may have given a vague clue as to what his Quirk could do, but we were not very sure so we had to be on guard at all times. Besides, he along with five allied villains had recently caused the biggest bank heist of the decade, and stolen a priceless artifact in the process.
”We’re almost there, just two more city blocks and we’ll have reached the correct warehouse!” Our final friend to tag along was known as Best Jeanist, who we called Tsunagu. He dashed ahead using his strands of fabric to propel himself forward, looking back and striking a flashy pose which seemed to say, “catch me if you can!” He always seemed to be in good spirits and made very good use of what wouldn’t seem to be a powerful Quirk at first, which I suppose always made me ire him. Enji glanced over at me and we mutually agreed. We had to beat him there, to prove that we were still on top! Secretly, I also kind of felt the need to race Enji too, just to make sure I was still closer to being No. 1.
Shortly after, the three of us landed at the same time where Nana was waiting. Aizawa groaned and got down, complaining about rushing for no reason and being all soaked. I didn’t really blame him, we were all starting to feel the effects of the cold, sharp wind and the unrelenting torrent of rain. Shivering and sodden, we all headed down into an alcove looking through the window into the main section of the warehouse. Nana hushed us and spoke quietly to give a brief summary of our strategy. “Alright, Present Mic is heading in first to cause a distraction. In a stealth mission, your obnoxious- I mean, powerful voice would be detrimental if you had to sneak around, so this is the best spot for you. While he heads down to the front entrance to make a racket, Endeavor and I will fly down to the door leading to a hidden back room. It is in that back room where we will find our target, most likely alone. I will be carrying Eraser so that when we enter the room, his Quirk will be deactivated on sight. All Might, you stay here and watch for any potential intrusions. Got that?” We all nodded and swelled with pride, having been spoken to on an equal footing with a pro. She had even used our hero names to address us formally!
Tsunagu had been left out of the plan, so he went to inquire about it but before he could ask, Nana addressed him. “You, Jeanist, have to follow us down and seal us in if I give the signal. This is the toughest job, since I know you won’t be willing to leave your friends in danger when the time comes, but if something goes wrong we need to be totally sure that only those in the room will be injured or... worse. Sealing that door shut could potentially save both Hizashi-kun and Toshinori-kun’s lives! Don’t worry , my signal is absolute!” Tsunagu seemed to worry a bit about this considering the plan would almost definitely have some type of hitch, but he nodded. The group split up, and we heard Hizashi singing a loud and poor rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’” before we moved into action.
Enji reached the door first, having not carried anyone, so he tried for the handle. Clearly, the door to the secret back room was locked, and the key was most likely on one of the henchmen. But would a lock really stop the nation’s future No. 1 hero? He easily lit his fist up and burnt a hole in the door where the handle used to be. Shoving the door open but making sure it didn’t slam, he burst into the room with Aizawa right behind him. Shimura followed, glancing around. What they saw wasn’t exactly a surprise. A few couches and dirty magazines were scattered throughout the small space, all somewhat facing a small television at what looked like an uncomfortable angle. There were two doors leading onwards, probably to some sort of kitchen and another area for actual conferences. They knew it wouldn’t be wise to split up since Aizawa could only check one place at a time, and he was essential to them sneaking out quietly. They burst into the space on the left as quietly as possible, with the same method as before, and noticed that the kitchen area was also empty. There were no other rooms beyond this, so the target had to be in the last room, just a door away. Enji burnt a hole in the handle, and they stepped through....
While this occurred, I was waiting up on the alcove we had began at. I spotted a shadowy figure heading in their general direction, but I didn’t alert them yet. There was no need to risk revealing myself if this guy was just heading nearby. But when I saw his face, my stomach was filled with my dropped heart, and I wanted to be sick. The villain we had come to capture wasn’t in that hidden area at all. He was just about to head in right now! His nightly schedule must’ve shifted! Damn Shifter, always leaving us on the edge of our seats. He saw the door ajar, and he hurried to signal his men, who surrounded the area before I could even think to move. Realizing what would take place I sprung into action, jumping down into the center of the mass of small fry. Dozens of grown men went flying with the impact, and I stood in a circle of enemies as the thunderous boom echoed around the chamber.
”You shouldn’t have come here, heroes. I’ve just used the artifact we obtained last week to create the ultimate power amplifier, and now none can stop me! My ability to shift dimensions can finally be used on humans, and I’ll be able to send all the heroes away to another world. Villains will reign supreme, and the world will be mine!” Shifter pulled a cube-shaped device from his pocket and pressed two buttons, causing a blue and white aura of light to surround him. He laughed maniacally as the power surged from him, and I stared in horror as his body started to wither and decay. The power was too much for even his body to handle, and he was aging faster under the stress. He slowly crumbled into a pile of dust, but not before the damage was done. Unfortunately, that much dimensional energy couldn’t just release into thin air. It was blasted in all directions, sending everyone located in the warehouse to a randomly selected alternate universe.
I awoke in a forest, tall trees in every direction, with my friends scattered at my feet, also unconscious. I had a mostly intact memory of what had happened to me, but looking down I saw footprints starting around us and heading away into the woods. I assumed that we must’ve all appeared at the same spot in this world, and the henchmen had taken advantage of the chaos to knock us all unconscious and escape into the relative safety of the unknown. I woke the others, and the six of us sat against tree trunks facing each other, just staring in shock.
”So... has anyone else noticed that... our Quirks aren’t working?” Aizawa said this in an attempt to spark a relieving conversation, but his negative tone just sunk our spirits further. “I mean- maybe the locals can help us find a way back home somehow... if there are any out here....” He should’ve probably stopped talking already, it really wasn’t helping. We just needed to cope with the situation for a minute. Too bad for us, we weren’t even allowed to do that. As we sat, collecting our thoughts, a random girl appeared in the branches above, with a strange-looking knife in her hand. She jumped down next to us and edged closer, wary of these strangely-dressed weirdos who must’ve looked crazy sitting out in the woods like this.
”Who are you all? What are you... dressed as? You know what, just come with me, you’ll answer all my questions back in the village.” She urged us up and led us to what she called the village, but to us looked more like a giant city. We simply went along with her, having nothing better to do and no other way to survive here, especially when powerless. “Alright, I’ll be questioning you in this hokage’s office, one at a time. If your stories all match and are believable enough, I’ll let you off the hook and set you back on your way to your home. Now, who’s up first?” Yeah, like she’d ever believe us. But I guess there was nothing to do but try, and it’s not like we’d be killed on the spot, so I volunteered (along with Nana) to go first. “Perfect! Then you, little pipsqueak, can come in and answer me first. I’ll be interrogating the lady afterwards, and anyone else man enough to volunteer after that.” The blonde lady didn’t seem all that strong, but her attitude alone was quite frightening. Even when she was obviously drained, her energy was oppressing and authoritative. This hokage-type leader or whatever they called it was definitely the head of this village. I believed that I needed to convince her we meant no harm, so that we could gain her protection. That would surely be our first step to survival.
I stepped out of her office about forty minutes later, from what I could tell based on how low the sun had gotten in the sky. It would be totally dark in the building’s halls before every last one of us had been debriefed on our situation. Finally, after much convincing with no prior time to get our story straight, the woman chose to believe that we were at least good people. “Alright, listen up you lot. It sounds like you can’t return home, or simply don’t have one to return to here, so I’ll allow you to stay in my headquarters here for the time being. My name is Tsunade by the way, and I’m the hokage - the leader - of this village. I’ll be introducing you to some people to stay with tomorrow, so they can keep an eye on you while you figure out how to get home. They’ll teach you everything you need to know about our world and the basics of chakra so that you can defend yourselves at the minimum level if necessary. Any further questions may be directed at them, I’ll be heading out to do some more, private work. Good luck in returning home, and ! Double cross me and you won’t live much longer.” With this ominous note we watched her head down the hall, trailing behind nervously to find our rooms.
Every one of us probably tossed and turned in our sleep that night- well, at least I hope I wasn’t the only one. A dozen dangerous criminals had been released here, and they could be anywhere powering up to come and defeat us at any moment. They now had the advantage of numbers, whereas we had lost our advantage of stronger Quirks. There was no telling who would become stronger in this strange power system called chakra, us or them, and that meant the huge difference between good prevailing and evil rising. After hours of thinking, I decided all I could do was trust myself and my comrades to learn as quickly as possible, using all our determination. Heroes can never rest when there is an entire world at stake, after all!
The next morning we were introduced to the powerful jōnin of the Leaf Village, supposedly the top tier of ninja. They quickly explained to us that ninja learn to use the chakra flow of their bodies to create jutsu that alter its type and create different attacks, which they use to defeat other ninja who use their powers for evil. Apparently, chakra comes in many different elemental natures, being Wind, Earth, Fire, Water, Lightning, Light, and Dark. The Light and Dark categories were quite vague and I didn’t really understand any of it, but I’m sure you could ask Aizawa-kun about it, hahaha! The six of us decided that we would explain our past abilities to these ninja in the hope that they would be able to train us more easily in whatever jutsu matched it best. For my simple increase in strength the best master to learn from would be Tsunade, so I set off to learn from her for the next three months.
During this time, I rarely saw my friends. I spent days at a time learning how to send my chakra to my feet to walk up trees, taking no breaks for food or sleep until I could make it to the next branch. Next came the ability to walk on water, requiring even more strict chakra control. Finally, I felt that my chakra was an extension of my mind’s power within my body, and I tested my strength in its full. Channeling all of my energy into my fist, I struck a single blow at a 20-foot-tall boulder. Much to my surprise it shattered, spraying debris everywhere. My power had returned, not in full but close enough! With the taijutsu training incorporated into my basic skills training, I now knew a few basic jutsu and had the brute strength to take on any opponent up to the rank of chūnin, below jōnin yet still above the lowest level, genin. I was confident that I could take on any opponent who had been training a mere three months without a master as skilled as mine; I was excited to see how the others’ training had gone as well.
We finally reunited as one group, now full-fledged shinobi, after all this time, and we were mostly eager to show off our abilities. To do so, we all agreed with our eyes that a mock battle was necessary, just to see who was strongest now. I dashed right up in front of Tsunagu as he started to make a few hand signals, but we were both blasted with a burst of flames by Enji before either of us made a move. I jumped up high into the air to avoid it, where I saw Nana already following, bursting a Gale Palm wind style jutsu from her feet to propel herself upwards. She launched a few wind blades using a handheld fan which I dodged by using a substitution jutsu, and we both landed back on the ground to see Enji, Tsunagu, and now Hizashi in a deadlock. Hizashi had some sort of device on his wrist that was emitting visible waves of sound, and one hit from it would probably pack a serious punch. Enji had set the grass all around them on fire with his fire style attacks, learned from Kakashi who had copied some from the Uchiha, a clan that had died out not long ago.
Everyone’s abilities so far seemed very destructive and one-sided in a fight against any normal genin, but the strangest of all was clearly Tsunagu’s. He had produced multiple versions of himself, and they seemed to be able to attack with real fists. They were called Shadow Clones, and being adept at making detail-oriented, controllable things, the Best Jeanist basically had an unlimited supply. We all struck again at once, but suddenly our chakra was cut off. We all fell to the ground with the sudden loss of energy that came with chakra absorption. We all looked up to see Aizawa holding his hands up in a hand seal, sighing. “Can we just go find those idiots and drag them back home somehow already?” After such a long time of being afraid and desperate to grow stronger, I finally felt a laugh rise within me. I’d done it, and with the others we finally stood a chance at going home! There must be a way.
At this point we had already found the men who had scattered when we arrived together in this world. They had become known as a group of ninja bandits, with low level jutsu but still stronger than the weak citizens of random towns whom they robbed. Their faces were listed in the bingo book with a low bounty, meaning that they were at least a group that should be taken somewhat seriously. Tsunade decided it would be more than enough to send the new trainees alone to complete the mission that had begun two years ago. They may have let their target die, but they could still bring his men to justice. After a short journey to a small town within the Land of Fire, the group set the stage for their ambush counterattack.
The bandits appeared in town early the next day, and pranced from house to house demanding tribute. I waited by the front door as I listened to the neighbors next door being questioned. There we had hidden Tsunagu, Hizashi, and Aizawa the night before. Two of the twelve bandits were checking each street, so the plan was to capture two and hold them hostage. The neighbors caused a ruckus inviting the bandits to enter their house to see what the trouble was all about, when suddenly Present Mic punched one right in the jaw from around the corner with his wrist device, made by the mad scientist Orochimaru specifically for his chakra to operate. It sent waves through the man’s brain that put him into a deep sleep upon , and he collapsed. The sudden attack provoked the other man to launch a hasty kunai or two at Hizashi, but Tsunagu easily blocked them with a shadow clone while another three clones restrained the poor guy.
The two were bound and locked in a room at the back of the house, where Eraser activated his chakra-sapping jutsu using a seal. When the bandits didn’t show up with their quota for the street, the other ten decided to have a look. This was where I came in. I stepped out into the middle of the street as the sun set behind me. “Hello boys, me? My friends and I have finally captured your comrades, and now it’s your turn to be caught. Give up kindly and we’ll spare their lives, as well as yours.” The group knew a hero would never kill a hostage villain like that, so they called the bluff and advanced anyway. However, that was exactly what the heroes expected! Aizawa stepped out from behind a building and blocked their chakra just as Nana struck with a gust of wind from above them, where she had been floating the whole time. Defenseless, the group of bandits spread out to the edges of the road, some of whom were soundly knocked out by me and Hizashi, others who were blasted with Enji’s flames. The ten remaining henchmen were fully defeated.
With that, the first step had been completed. There would definitely be a way back to our world, but we would have to wait until these guys gave up their knowledge for us to find it. Until then, we decided to continue training, and we became some of the greatest ninja to ever bless the Naruto universe with our presence. Now then children, if you’re wondering if I ever made it back to my world, well, that’s where I am now, isn’t it? However, the way I made it back here is quite another long story, so maybe I’ll tell it another time. For now, it is about your bedtime, or at least mine, so I must be heading to sleep. May your dreams be sweet, little ones! And , always give it your all, just like I did! Plus Ultra!
