Theft of Oneself - MyHerotober Day 2 (A Poem About Blue and Theft)

Heyo! I know it's a day late but hopefully I'll actually get to setting up the post for day three today. For day two, I decided to write a poem which is rare. I don't really write poetry and I don't consider myself a poet but I wanted to try it since I believe it's something I should be able to do as a writer. One of my favorite poems was used as inspiration for this format. There are barely any similarities besides very general structure but if someone can guess it, I'll be happily surprised.

Featuring the prompts of both blue and theft, I decided to star Tenya Iida since he's what comes to mind for the color blue. While he needs more screentime, the hero killer arc was really his time to shine. Stain stole his brother's future and his conviction as a hero so I think it's quite fitting.

Theft of Oneself

I pride in myself, and celebrate myself,

And I respect those who respect,

For I am deserving of justice as society deserves.

I pride and represent my family,

I love and pride myself in the legacy of my name.

My leg, the engines in my legs, created on this earth, under this sky,

Coming into existence from my parents here from parents the same,

I, now faced with a challenge to all that I am,

Running forward for that which was theft.

Heroes and villains in battle,

A broken society revolving on continuously, but never-ending,

I stand for good as you do for bad, duty to fight for eternity,

An unavoidable conflict of boiling feelings.

Hospitals and rooms are full of the calm, the beds are tainted with useless calm,

I visit the unfortunate and see it and understand it,

Anger growing wrongly, but I shall not stop it.

The alley is not of the peace, it is filled with the smell of blood, it is brewing,

It is my being forever, I pride myself with it,

I will go forward and confront that which I long to confront,

For it has stolen me.
