Finding himself in Jin Tao’s body, Cheng Xiaoshi looked around, noting the modest-looking kitchen.

— “And here we are! What do we do this time?” Cheng Xiaoshi said excitedly with a grin as he examined the shelves.

— “Follow the scenario. We need to prepare to meet with his friend, Mei Ling.” Lu Guang said, watching Xiaoshi’s every move closely. “And don’t touch anything! Go to the room left of the kitchen.”

— “Alright, alright.” He muttered through clenched teeth, disappointment in his voice, as he slowly headed toward the room. Inside was a small wardrobe; behind the slightly open door, modest shirts and sweaters could be seen—nothing remarkable.

— “What was he wearing?“ Xiaoshi asked, carefully going through the hangers one by one.

— “A green sweater, it’s right in front of you. It was quite cold that day.” Lu Guang sighed quietly, waiting as his partner finished getting ready.

— “Okaaay, what’s next?”

— “Now take Jin Tao’s phone, it’s on the nightstand near the bed, and write a message to Mei Ling. I’ll dictate it.”

Picking up the phone, Xiaoshi squinted as his eyes became accustomed to the semi-darkness, and the light from the phone was too bright. His fingers quickly moved across the keyboard, typing every word said by Lu Guang, making sure not to miss a single period: [ Hey, Mei! I’m ready to head out. Let me know when you’re at the entrance. Don’t be late! ]

After sending the message, Cheng Xiaoshi let out a deep sigh, flopping into the arms of a soft chair and leaning back. His thoughts about the plan buzzed in his mind like a restless swarm of bees. Tapping his foot a few times out of boredom and nerves, Xiaoshi glanced at the table and scooted his chair closer.

— “How long do we have to wait?“ he asked with a sigh, resting his head on the table with a slight thud. Waiting felt dreadful when you can’t risk making any unnecessary moves.

— “Ten minutes at most. Wait for the call.“ Lu Guang answered monotonously, as always, not envying Xiaoshi’s position. He knew how impatient he was.

However, time ed surprisingly quickly. The phone rang, and Mei Ling’s number appeared on the screen. Without hesitation, Xiaoshi lifted his slightly drowsy head and answered.

— “Hey, Jin! I just arrived at your place, you can come out.“ The man on the other end of the line spoke cheerfully, his voice hoarse from excitement—it had been a long time since they last met.

— “Of course! I’m coming right now.“ Cheng Xiaoshi immediately jumped up from his seat in excitement, foolishly not waiting for Lu Guang’s next instructions, and ended the call.

Lu Guang could only sigh heavily, hoping that this minor mistake wouldn’t affect the course of events in this story…

— “Well, let’s go!“ Xiaoshi exclaimed before stepping out of Jin Tao’s apartment.
