Yep... This is now the 2nd time we've hinted at a future event.

Welcome

Welcome to the 1st of September, otherwise known as the start to the Month of Stage Builder! That's right; it's now been long enough that it isn't the obvious choice for an eventbut not long enough for people to stop caring about the mode.

What is the Month of Stage Builder?

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Throughout this entire month, we will be setting prompts for specific types of stages to be built using Smash Ultimate's stage builder mode. Every Sunday (including today) will start a new challenge that must be submitted by midnight on Saturday. So in total, there are 4 different stage builder related events wrapped into one package

Each event follows both general and their own unique rules, so it's heavily suggested you read more than the name of the prompt before you begin.

The general rules include:

□ You may submit multiple stages per challenge (either in separate posts or in the same post like a "stage pack"). However, you can only place once in each challenge.

□ How well constructed and detailed the stages are important, but we also want entrants to talk about their stages as well. For example, describing things like how it plays, which characters do well on them, strategies, or even pointing out background details. A general rule of thumb is the more descriptive and in depth, the better.

□ Play test your levels thoroughly. It would be ashamed if a great concept becomes unplayable due to glitches and exploits

□ Entries must include a photo of the stage, the ID, and the #MonthOfStageBuilder tag.

At the end of the month, there will be an award ceremony post to announce the winners of each challenge as well as an overall prize for creators who submitted great stages in multiple challenges.

With that said, let's get into the first challenge

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Week 1: Minigames

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The first challenge in the Month of Stage Builder is to create a stage for a smash minigame or a stage that is a minigame itself.

The wording might seem strange, but there is a distinction between the two. An example of a minigame would be something like "Stamina mode with only FS meter" or "Turn Based Smash". This changes the rules of the match, but can be played on any stage with differing results. In this case, you'd want to create a stage that emphasizes those rules more than a default stage.

An example of the stage itself being the minigame is the popular Fifa custom stage, where the only way to KO the opponent is to hit them into the teleporter that's themed like a soccer goal.

Whether you take one of these two approaches (or even a different approach not stated), the goal is to create something unique that's fun, challenging, or both.

Rules for this challenge includes:

□Explain the rules of your minigame

□Include #MinigameBuilder in the post

□No Minigames designed for single player (yet)

The deadline for this challenge is Saturday the 7th at 11:59pm EST. We will not be accepting entries any later than that, but feel free to continue creating minigames afterwards if you'd like. I'll see you all again on the 8th for the second week of the Month of Stage Builder. to have fun. This isn't anything to get too competitive over yet.
